Petrino was/is a perfectionist and he has a controlling persona which isn't always a bad thing for a coach to have. It's fairly obvious, at least I believe, that he controlled a lot more than most people initially thought. And I think he influenced the defense a lot more than people realized, and that's NOT necessarily a good or bad thing per se, yet it can really backfire.
