His first move to get a clear shot was fine, but then he decided to force some contact on the shot, so he took a step back towards the defender to be in position to draw the foul. The ref had to explain that this wasn't a dance floor.

If Arkansas doesn't shoot lights out in the second half, State would have won by 20.
With 3:00 to go in the game, Arkansas was shooting 80% in the second half. They ended the half at 65%.
State did what they do best.
They didn't foul.
They played great defense.
They rebounded well.
They shot like shite.
They won't win every game like that, but everyone isn't going to shoot 65% in the second half on them. State looks like an NIT/NCAA bubble team and the schedule sets up nicely for a 10-8 or better season (Vanderbilt, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Alabama and South Carolina are their home and homes and their definite losses - Kentucky, A&M, Florida are all on the road).
