Isn't there some rough design of leaving a window and building a smaller upper deck above the bridge?

You mean this one?

Eh the photoshop completely swallows the upper deck(not the 600)

Edit: and to the second one I swear I've seen a cleaner one. That looks pretty crappy honestly.

I wish our stadium was louder but if we extend the 600 level those seats will be horrible and the bridge thing looks dumb.

I wish they would make the endzones north/south rather than east/west. People hate playing at Sanford because of the dang sun.

His post was a joke, since the 2nd image you posted is what our stadium looked like pre-2003 expansion.

I'd be ok with doing something on the west end leaving a viewing window from the bridge into the stadium, but really when you get down to it it's completely unncessary. We have 92,746 capacity with essentially only 3/4 of a stadium. If we wanted we could get up above 150K if we wanted, but why have a stadium that big when you wouldn't even be able to fill it?

And no, that's not a knock on our fans. It's just that unless you're playing like a top 10 LSU for example..it wouldn't get filled that much. 150,000 people aren't going to come watch us play kentucky or missouri.

I agree. Let's take the stadium and push it clockwise

Eh, that's not too bad I guess. It looks kind of "erector set"-y, in that it's sort of pieced together, which aesthetically isn't awesome. However, it preserves one of the things that makes Sanford one of the more unique stadiums in the country which is the view from the bridge. Plus the noise from up there going down into the stadium would be awesome.

Your capacity is just shy of 93,000 atm. What would Sanford's new capacity be in your opinion if that were built as pictured?

100K?

No need to add seats, but plenty of room for banners

That looks like a hell of a lot more than 7k seats.

Is it even possible with the road up against the stadium?

Totally unnecessary and would be a bad investment, IMO. The stadium is big (enough) and historic. More seats would mean more empty seats for all but about 2 home games/season. Dwindling game attendance is chronic across almost all major sports, is it not?

The lower level sections (the ones with the red seats on the right side of the pic) go up abt 40ish rows and have abt 20-30 ppl per row. So guesstimate 1k ppl per section. There's abt 10 sections in that drawn on addition, so depending on how it was built we could add 10,000 ppl

I doubt they'll expand, if anything they'll contract.(see link below)

Substitute almost any shool's name there. Ask LSU and 'Bama fans bases. Not to throw y'all under the bus. But, it's endemic (from what I hear).

You don't have to tell me that . For the Mizzou/Toledo game the student section was nearly empty. To be quite honest, it was shocking. It was a blazing hot day, but on one side, you had 75 year-old fans with their canes and oxygen bottles sitting in the noon day sun, and on the other side, all the students left the stadium for their air-conditioned dorm rooms and apartments.

LSU's South End Zone Expansion is more about adding premium seating. That's where the money is.

Yep, we usually (not counting the likes of Kent St.) are close to capacity at kickoff but are lucky to have 80K in the 3rd quarter unless it's a close game against a big time opponent. The very tip top of the student section is usally the only empty spot in that area though.

Stadiums have gotten too large...that's one of the big issues. When schools expanded from 80,000 - 85,000, anything above it should've been all suites and club level seats. That's where the real money is.

The economy has gotten weaker since 2007 but schools keep raising ticket prices anyway. They are trying to maximize profits not attendance and this is what you get when that is the goal.
