Ole Miss got killed by Florida, controlled by Memphis, and lost to Arkansas at home. They wouldn't even be bowl eligible with Ohio State's schedule.

Ole Miss would be 8-1 or 9-0 with OSU's schedule right now. They have only lost to teams in the top 30ish of college football. OSU has only played a single team in the top 50 (Penn State) to date this year after 9 games. If a majority of teams had OSU's resume right now they wouldn't even be in the top 8.

That's not the only problem with claiming Georgia. If they had one loss, to Bama, your argument would matter. They have two other losses to average teams that also must be considered.

Understood about the other losses but that's why this must be looked into deeper. Both additional losses came pretty much without Chubb plus after Alabama totally plowed over their QB who had looked excellent up until that point, basically UGA's whole "battery", to steal a baseball term, was neutralized in effect in the other losses. Finally, I would say Florida is much better than an average team.

An injury to one player doesn't mean much. Every team has key injuries, and many have several key injuries. There's no reason a "top ten" team should be losing to Tennessee or Florida.

And no, Florida is still average. They won the East. So what, Missouri has been doing that since they joined the SEC. Florida isn't back because they cheated their way into the CCG.

Ole Miss would still have at least three losses. They are bottom of the barrel, and the only thing keeping them above that is their win over Bama.

I'm not going to fight a battle of wins vs. schedule because as an OSU fan it's unwinnable right now

However, Alabama has to look around and see the conference isn't as good as they thought it was opening weekend. That's fine, but the SEC had 10 teams ranked in week 2, which was obviously inflated. I won't argue it's better than OSU's slate so far, but it's kind of like we are looking for skinny kids in fat camp
