I say we should just become a bulldog or a tiger. The more, the marrier(sp?).
On a side note, for those of you who don't think that the bear fits with MS, I had a buddy get a trail cam pic of a pretty big black bear last weekend, and it had a tracking collar on
He doesn't really want pics spread around though because he doesn't want game wardens all over his place seeing him putting out corn and such during times that he isn't supposed to

You must save your Tapout and Ed Hardy shirts for the game then huh?

I really hope it is the landshark for this reason.
The creator of the landshark hand signal on our defense was Tony Fein our linebacker Nutt's first year. He had previously fought in either Iraq or Afghanistan. When he came up with the idea it caught fire with the team and fans. The next fall he made an NFL squad and tragically died. I hope that we have our mascot as a landshark wearing number 47 and named Tony in honor of the great rebel who came up with the sign.
But that is just my opinion.

If only he had worn #7 when he played here...

Landshark doesn't work. Especially right now. Our defense isn't worthy of being called Landsharks. And it is in honor of only the defense. Nothing else.

It is the only one that has a meaningful tie into the football program or athletics in general.
BTW Alabama hasn't played like a heard of elephants throughout their whole history and it has worked for them.

That's all it has meaning for....but in terms of football....its meaning goes toward the defense. Something....that in my opinion, has started to die out.
And I wish people would stop comparing our situation with Alabama's mascot. Alabama didn't have a mascot before then either if I'm not mistaken.

Nice, I know people that wear those to our games, I just don't have any of the PFG stuff. Seems like it would be nice and cool though...

I think there is going to be a re-vote from what I've heard. Heard there was a lot of negative talk about that Hotty Toddy representation. So much that they were going to re-work his image to do a re-vote. Which makes me think that the school really doesn't care if the fans/students vote for shark or bear. They want Hotty Toddy and want the fans to accept the image.
The Bear or the Shark I wouldn't mind that much if they were our mascot, because lets face it, they are both just animals that can tear things up and don't speak really for the university at large. But Hotty Toddy, it does speak for the university, but in the worst way possible. Its as if a Hillbilly were the mascot for Tennessee or Arkansas. I mean the university really wants the Hotty Toddy guy to be our mascot, despite the fact that he was completely booed when he appeared on our jumbotron last year? Pathetic.

The name Teddy Bear came from a hunting trip that Teddy Roosevelt had in Mississippi

So do I. That would be so awesome. The other two choices are almost as bad though.
