During a traffic stop, he then shoots the cop and starts running to another parking deck where I guess he killed himself.

Damn.... That's just sad.
At least he didn't go on a shooting spree like those two nuts in west Memphis last year.

I wonder why there was such a search for the gunman if they found a weapon near the second victim? Did it take them that long to find the weapon?

This situation kinda reminds of that part in Rush Hour where Carter was talking about how his dad died.

I guess they had to check the rest of campus to make sure the guy didn't kill a random dude and then just lay the gun beside him

The gunman could have dropped the gun after shooting another person. They were probably just making sure that they had every scenario covered. Facts come in so fast and they need to be filtered. Until then, keep working.

I get that, but wouldn't the "victim" have been wearing the same clothes as the "shooter"?

I see. I never heard them mention finding a gun next to the victim until now. It is better that he killed himself. We have enough trash in this world. He just saved us all a lot of money, IMO.

Those first responders on the ground probably didn't have all the facts and just kept working. Good for them just to be sure.
