When you look at money and dynamics- the Big 10 on average pays out about 10M more a year than the SEC does. Figure I saw says 63.2M vs 52.6M.
And yet, there are several SEC schools (Bama, UGA etc) that are used to bringing in the most talent, and having the deepest rosters.
Combine that with the recent additions of Texas and Oklahoma.
You might see someone like Alabama or Georgia (just an example) get caught up in bidding wars, and overextend what their money folk can maintain longterm. You may see UGA boosters willing to up the payouts, but maybe Bama guys, now that Saban is gone and the team is no longer #1, they don't keep feeding at that rate.
