I appreciate your comments. I have not been able to get a true response from a UT perspective. Let me ask you this. Has Kiffen made his job easier or tougher with his comments. Is he building unrealistic expectations and how will he manage the outcomes. What are your expectations for the 09 season?

The more that idiot talks, the better, at least for the rest for the rest of the SEC. LSU is trying to book him to come here and speak at a high school coaching convention.

he did that the day he signed his contract ... kiffin wasn't ready to be a head coach when al davis hired him and still isn't ready to be a head coach ... he had to beg daddy to come help him ... not impugning the tennessee program .. i just thought this was a bad hire for the vols from day one ... you guys could have done a lot better than this guy ... he came off as the biggest whiniest pussy with the al davis shite and now he wants to talk tough about florida ? come on ..

I don't think so at all. But,because of his comments, the heat will be on by his own fanbase to win sooner than later. Tennessee football isn't some Johnny come lately.IMO,he may not be the one to return the Vols to the top 10,but that is not 'certain failure'.

That being said, what he is doing is a big shot in the arm for UT. We have gone from being a proud program to
You took more steps away from proud when he made his comments.
What's worse is he really made the SEC look bad. Be and idiot in private from now on please. It's amazing how poorly he was prepared and if you want to believe it was all to fire you up then you're really in the new Jonestown.
Get the women and kids and pass out the Koolaide

I understand the need to pump up a fan base that has been down lately. As you said M-BRO, UT has "gone from being a proud program to being almost irrelevant in the SEC over the last 5 years."
But there are other, more, I don't know, honorable ways I guess to do things. Ways that show you respect the game and the conference you're in. Kiffin seems like a child that has to brag about how he screwed over this and that team and how he did it. It WILL bite him in the arse and I personally can't wait.
There was a reply about Meyer and someone else being dicks as well, which is what a lot of people say. The difference is even if they are dicks behind the scenes they aren't going on ESPN talking about how they have stolen a recruit with a smug smile on.
Bending the rules to help out your team is probably normal. I won't sit here and pretend that other schools do not do the same exact thing Kiffin has been found to do already. But how many of them do you see reports about with quotes detailing what happened, bragging about how you forced a kid to deceive another university for your own gain or trying to throw other coaches' under the bus?
To me, in a case like this, having such quotes released is done just to put the spotlight on himself. It all just seems very childish. I don't know what success he will have at UT, but I will be one of the many hoping he will come to be the worst coach UT has ever had.

yea, Everybody has nothing but praise for your new coach:
not really considered "back on the map" by anyone who doesn't love rocky top:
and for the dellusional UT fan:

quote:
Kiffin has been employed for a grand total of two months and change. Since then, he has guaranteed a victory at Florida next season; ticked off South Carolina's Steve Spurrier; detonated the fuse of the SEC's human C-4 explosive, Alabama's Nick Saban; suggested that heralded recruit Marlon Brown -- who chose Georgia over UT -- was a grandmama's boy; intimated that Richardson's high school in Pahokee, Fla., couldn't be trusted to fax the national letter of intent to Tennessee; charged Meyer with breaking rules; and gotten himself reprimanded by the league commish.
not really considered "back on the map" by anyone who doesn't love rocky top:
quote:
The Vols' season officially opens Sept. 5 against Western Kentucky. But let's face it: Kiffin is already 0-1.
and for the dellusional UT fan:
quote:
Some Tennessee fans might mistake Kiffin's knucklehead comments for strength, for assertiveness, for drawing a Rocky Top in the sand. But the truth is, Kiffin has done the near impossible: He has made Al Davis look as if he knows something Tennessee didn't.

No it was 2 years ago, and we had to back in by everyone else in the East losing a couple more games.
Fulmer had a losing record in the SEC over the last 5 years.
Fulmer had a losing record against top 25 teams in the last 5 years.
Fulmer had losing seasons 2 of the last 4 years.
Fulmer lost 5 of his last 6 games against Florida and Bama.
And you think Kueffin is going to change that? Not only is he recruiting against the big dogs, he's recruiting against himself and his comments and his lies. Recruits worth a damn will see through his BS and will not go there. The players you do get will be the type who like to lie and play games. Do you really want to field a team full of lying, sleezy, thugs? Oh wait, you are Tennessee, I guess you do. Your losing ways will continue, I assure you. No way anyone gets to winning playing these type of games. It just won't work.

I have felt the same way since day one, what has Kiffin done to make him qualified to be the head coach at Tennessee? Tennessee is a big time football program and they give an unproven guy a chance? Yeah he had a dominate offense at USC, but Norm Chow built that only for Kiffen to take over it for what, two years? He went to Oakland where he was 5-15 as a head coach. I understand a program wanting the attention of the country, but this was the wrong way. He is now in the toughest conference of college football and just sent an open invitation out to everyone to focus on playing even harder against him. I am curious how long Tennessee will be patient with him. Sure Fulmer earned the right to have down years, but what has Kiffen done for UT if the SEC kicks his arse for the next two or three years? The SEC does not forget threats like reporting your fellow conference coaches to the NCAA. If the SEC kicks his arse for the next 2-3 years he will probably be out, which I am sure SEC coaches would love. I don't know, he may have just sealed his fate by bringing on all this early attention with no name of his own to back it.

That's what the uga fans were saying after their "endzone dance"--that that's what they needed to get the team and the fans a little fired up--and to try to turn the series around back into their favor.
Well, there's a right way and wrong way to get your team and fans fired up. Come September, we are going to show "Lame Kisser" how to do it.
