Amazing how Vegas gets the over under spreads almost perfect each week

They use computer programs/stats of their own for the base, and likely some human opinion as well, and then the betting moves it from there.

Other computers come to similar numbers also. FEI predicted the point total to be 45.7. But it also picked Alabama to win and cover.

When I did computer stats and used it ATS for fun on yahoo, the main issue I'd come across was my results would be at or nearly the same as the spread. It's like picking a difference of .5 or 1 point sometimes. If your prediction is the a team wins by 12 and the spread is 12.5 - which way do you pick? You pick not to cover, but there's not much confidence in such a pick.
