This thread is interesting and exactly what we all knew would happen. 5% of fanbases hate that their domination days are over and 95% of fanbases love it.
The 95% finally figured out that the NCAA was NEVER going to punish cheating by the bagmen so they simply made bagmen legal. The portal was just like ice cream on top of cake for the 95%.
The sport is healthier than ever as more teams are now having meaningful November’s and Decembers. Those Bama fans who are clinging to this myth that college football had the greatest regular season because a team could lose on September 4th and their season was over simply refuse to look at the big picture of the sport and not just your team,
Sure, Bama could run thru Sept and Oct and their fans knew they would have meaningful games when the weather turned cold because they simply had deep bagman pockets. But a lot of college fans tuned out by Oct 1st when their team already had 2 losses and automatically relegated for the next 3 months. Those fans now have hope and will fill seats.
Bama and UGA and Ohio State should still be solid programs but their easy paths are over. The more we get into this new era the less these 7th-10th graders care about their past of domination and that will start to impact recruiting.
