These players asking for 7-8 years eligibility just want to play with their sons on the team like Lebron.

Just put an age limit on eligibility. I don't know if it's 23 or 24, but the season after that birthday, you're done regardless.

You can't argue with age....

5 years to play 4 starting upon enrollment. Just leave it at that.

Too ambitious in today's world. When did you start? What happens if you have to take a year off, yada, yada, yada.

No, it isn’t.

You have 5 years to play 4 starting from the moment you enroll. I’m not sure what’s so hard to understand about that.

Well, I'll just point you to the sham of a hearing held in Mississippi this week. People will always say, "Yes, but..."

However you can't argue with age...

Ok how about this.

On the date that you enroll……a clock starts. The clock lasts for 5 years. Within those 5 years,….you have the opportunity to play 4 years.

You’re eliminating anyone who enlists straight out of high school. Tony Fein went and fought in fricking Afghanistan for a few years and then came back to go to college. He was a model student and ball player.

I get it. But there are still ways to manipulate it. "Well I didn't REALLY start until a year later." "Oh those community college classes don't count", etc, etc.

Decisions have consequences. That's why I suggested a number at 6 years past the typical age of a College freshman.

How about this then?

You have 4 years to play ball. Those 4 years are limited to within a 5 year span starting the day that you enroll.

Seriously….your arguments are just flat out stupid. There is no wiggle room with making this rule. It’s simple. Your rule allows for people to play for 6 years. Austin Simmons enrolled at like 16. Are you saying he should play for 8 years?

And that sir, is EXACTLY the point.

Eta: there should still be a you can't play more than 4 years clause, but you do age out if you start late and don't hit 4.

But Austin Simmons could play for 8?

Your rule allows for a lot more frickery than a simple 5 to play 4. You keep adding situations in which the answer would always be “no”

Not really what I was saying. You still only get 4 years. But no matter what, when you reach X age, you're done regardless if you've played 1,2 3 or 4 years. No exceptions.

Every situation you responded to me with “well what if this?” Or “what if that?” Is absolutely relevant to your own rule. None of that matters whatsoever to a 5 to play 4

Agreed. Make it like a 24U pro sport, give them two year contracts with opt outs for the NBA/NFL, apply salary structure rules like the NFL draft and make it a real pro sport so the chaos goes away and everyone has clear rules.
