Busey, catfan, and any other UK fans generally suck. We can all agree on that. But I don't hate those turds like I do most any Kansas fan.

Maybe with time that will change. I don't know and I don't care.

Seriously, when hardcore Mizzou and Kansas fans are around each other, there is a feeling of forced cordiality with a sense of impending disaster. Like at any moment a knife fight may happen if someone shoots an improper look or if the wrong thing is said.

There's a real sense of danger...almost gang like. Can't be explained. Must be experienced.

I saw plenty of it when I was in Leavenworth. Still doesn't compare to peoples careers and livelihoods ruined by t-sip pettyness.

Case in point: A&M has been trying to get a law school for almost 30 years. Sip politicians have blocked it at every turn.

Texas is a grade A a-hole of an institution. I'll agree with you on that.

Otherwise, we must agree to disagree on anything related to MU/KU.

Aside from idiots in the Kansas City municipal government, KU can do very little to influence things that can happen to Missouri as an institution.

The sips, on the other hand...well you got a first hand look this past season.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize Texas was in the NC game last night. #readthethreadtitle

You clearly missed the comment about A&M/tu being a "pussy rivalry" compared to Missouri/Kansas.

Like I said, Texas fricking sucks.

But, the intense hatred of two states doesn't get worse than missouri and kansas. It might be retarded that this hatred goes back to the civil war. But, regardless, it does. Kids are raised to hate Kansans. The jayhawk sticker on a car can cause road rage or criminal vandalism.

Some people think that the civil war is still being fought between Missouri and Kansas, only in a cold war type manner. You can say what you want, but there aren't two states that hate each other more than MO and KS, period.

Really, you don't. A&M/Texas was a pussy rivalry compared to MU/KU. Don't bother responding. You don't get it and never will. There's a difference between extreme dislike and cities burning to the ground, border raids and rapes, and fan "score board" t-shirts that chronicle the deaths in Lawrence after it was burned down as payback for the evil fricking shite that Kansans pulled on Missouri citizens.

You don't know what we are talking about. You never will

Sounds like a pretty pussy rivalry if it still has to live off of irrelevant shite that happened 150 years ago. Alums of our school go toe to toe in pretty much every facet of life, especially politics, every day.

This is called a rivalry. It happens everywhere.

The Kansas/Mizzou rivalry seems pretty much based off basketball anyways, which is great, but makes it much less intense on a true scale. Nothing compares in intensity to a college football rivalry. You only play once every year and you have to tailgate around those frickers win or lose before and after the game. The atmosphere just isn't the same. I know the Kansas Missouri rivalry is intense and compares with any country, but to dismiss every other rivalry, especially rivalries like Alabama-Auburn and Texas-Texas A&M as not even close is ridiculous because you've never experienced them firsthand.

Yeah the difference there is that if I know someone is a longhorn there is no cordiality involved. My "forced cordiality" is more what i experience with the average Texas Tech fan. I just have no need to ever associate with a longhorn and if work forces me to ... well I am an auditor and their audit doesn't usually turn out well.

I outright dismiss every other rivalry (except North Carolina/Duke) as crappy compared to Mizzou/KU.

However, my standards for an awesome rivalry are probably far different than most of y'alls standards for an awesome rivalry.

Feel free to speculate on what my standards are...

You're absolutely right. We live the Mizzou-kU rivalry, it's what we know. Just like the Texas A&M - bevo rivalry is what you know. There are many good rivalries, and each is unique. All of them should be respected.

ETA: I won't speculate on what you think, Kills....I'm thinking what goes on in your head would scare me!

You're probably right, semo! You don't want to be in my head. Weird and frightening stuff happens in there. I took the path less traveled by, and I ended up in a haunted forest that never ends. Scary.

Anyhow, I'm a rogue on the rant, so I don't speak for any other Mizzou fan. When I say every other rivalry is a pussy rivalry compared to Mizzou/KU, I only speak for myself, Quantrill, and Breakaway.

Oh, I still think the Mizzou-kU rivalry is best - but everyone will think that about their team.

And there is medication you can take to help you cope with the haunted forest, you know that, right?

You mean Red Bull and peyote? I've tried that. Doesn't help. It was a disaster...

I used to spend a lot of time in Topeka on business, working with the state health commission. Anyway, folks around there claimed the KU/MU rivalry paled in comparison to KU/KSU. Both KU and KSU fans, mind you.

What's the real scoop? You MU guys just trying to fit in over there or what?

The real scoop? Well, it goes back to the civil war..... it actually does, but we won't go there. Let's just say the bitterness of that time has turned into generational hatred between people along both sides of the state line.

Their mascot, the jayhawk, was a insult to Missouri fans right off the bat when the picked it in the 1890s, I think. Jayhawks were the irregular troops that burned, looted and raped Missouri. It would be like if Florida's mascot was the Burning Shermans - insulting and infuriating.

Through the years, the games were always heated, and fans truly hated one another. When Norm Stewart was coach of our basketball team, he was famous for refusing to put a penny into the Kansas economy. His teams wouldn't stay on that side of the state line, wouldn't stop to eat there, and he wouldn't allow the team bus to get gas there. Their coaches were ridiculous in their hatred of Mizzou, and everything about Missouri. It's just ugly. Someone earlier described a mix of MU-kU fans as a knife fight waiting to break out, and that's about right. Others can offer more specifics, but if the told you ku, KState was more intense, they're lying. They like to pretend Mizzou isn't important, but we're their superbowl every year, in every sport. And except for basketball, we usually kill them across the board.

That is certainly the truth, especially now because they are so butthurt over us leaving them in limbo in the big bevo. I think time will pass and they will want to play again but who knows, it may be for the best that we don't play anymore. The rivalry really has gotten pretty violent the last few years, at least at Arrowhead for the football game.

Semo,

Are you trying to get me to take lithium so that I experience:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); back and forth eye movements; confusion; diarrhea; dizziness or light-headedness; drowsiness; dry mouth or eyes; fainting; giddiness; inability to control the bladder or bowels; increased or decreased urination; increased thirst; involuntary twitching or muscle movements; loss of consciousness; loss of coordination; muscle weakness; numbness of the skin; restlessness; ringing in the ears; seizures; severe or persistent headache or nausea; shortness of breath; slow or irregular heartbeat; sluggishness; slurred speech; swelling of the ankles or wrists; tremor; unsteadiness; vision changes (eg, blurred vision); vomiting; weight changes.

You're evil, man!
