You can baseball-stat this game up all you want, but last time I checked the team with the most points wins and we do a pretty good job at scoring points.

A&M had 68% conversion on 3rd down. Yet only had the ball for 32:00.

Time of possession in this game is going to grind them to dust. LSU will possess the ball, and A&M won't be able to continually convert on 3rd down.

TOP: big stat to watch Saturday. A&M must give its defense time to rest by extending drives and executing. LSU will be looking to pound the rock and keep them off the field.
Part of the reason we had no TOP was because we had 10 scoring drives of 5 minutes or less, including one TD drive of 17 seconds.

I've said it before, we got burned against La Tech by the same guy on every play because we didn't have a corner good enough to cover him (particularly with our #1 corner out for the game). Mix that with some laughable P.I. calls that extended drives, and yeah we had issues.

Not only does LSU lack a passing threat like La Tech had to make the mismatch we had last Saturday though, the power sets LSU uses will play into our defense's strengths.

And yes, La Tech ran 100+ plays -- mostly thanks to a billion penalties (some good calls, some ridiculous).

I've said it before on another thread, Troy put up more yards per play against the grinders than La Tech did against us. While we have issues defensively, LSU isn't the team best suited to taking advantage of them.

And the difference between the two of them is one almost gave up 25 points while one almost gave up 60

And yet you still skated by a 3-3 sun belt team at home by one score.

La Tech meanwhile likely finishes 11-1 and is kept out of the BCS because we beat them on the road.

But yes, you have an elite Defense. Carry on.

This game will be won where all games that matter are won. In the ditch.
