That's only an advantage if you can recruit elite players. That's my point. And Tennessee hasn't lately. In fact, recently the best player to come out of the state of TN went to UK.
Oh, is that where Donta Hightower went? We don't have great in state talent, but its better than people think. We just haven't gotten any due to coaching changes and different coaching staffs.
Donta Hightower
Barrett Jones
Golden Tate
Alex Hurst
Patrick Willis
Randall Cobb
Aaron Douglass
All these were from Tennessee and probably bout 10-15 more really good players that I missed. Our problem is that we haven't gotten the better ones recently.

No shite. What exactly is your point? We are renovating and adding seats in the near future
This is my point:

(which we had trouble doing this year due to people boycotting Joker)
None of the big 6 would have trouble selling out a 70,000 seat stadium even in its worst times.

Oh yea, another great player who chose not to go to UT.

Your whole argument reeks of Notre Dame.

Exactly. You are making my point. We have some elite in state talent. We just got to get the right coach to recruit the in state guys. That's why our program isn't going to go to the bottom feeders like you suggest. The right coach will put us back in the top of the SEC.

UT has some built-in disadvantages. All of the state's talent is in Memphis, which isn't really part of Tennessee, and far as hell from Knoxville. Nashville football is garbage. UT NEEDS to have success recruiting Hampton Roads, N. Georgia, and S. Florida to get back to 90s level dominance. Oh yeah, Dooley needs to go also.

Dooley needs an orange bowtie to match those pants -- now that would be a tradition!
