The other team didn't have 4 losses and wasn't 5th in the conference. When that game was played, LSU had 2 conference losses and were T2 overall in the SEC. If the rules were top 2 teams and no divisions, there would have been a 3 team tie-breaker at #2 (LSU, Tennessee, Alabama). Alabama lost to both LSU and Tennessee. LSU lost to Tennessee H2H, so Tennessee would have been 2, LSU 3, and Alabama 4.

The more teams you have, the less of an argument this is. It's not the other 13 teams problem that Florida, USCe, and Georgia want to maintain their OOC rivalry.
