The only two teams in college football history to have three players finish in the Top 5 of Heisman voting. If an Alabama player wins the Heisman and Alabama goes on to win the national championship, I don't think that there can be any argument against 2020 Alabama having the greatest season in college football history.

We could potentially be watching history being made here, baws.

FIFY.

And girls have been playing since 2001. I wouldn't expect an LSU fan to know this, however, due to your fan base's football knowledge being the worst in college football.

The 2015 Alabama team won the national championship while the 2013 Alabama team finished 11-2 and outside the Top 5. So you are correct in that comparison.

It's an asterisk season due to covid. Sorry.

I mean the "greatest season of all time" is subjective and will always be argued. Some will say it is and some will say it isn't, and both will be right in their own minds.

What will be a fact is that it would be Bama's 6th national title in 12 years, which is fricking legendary.

No need to apologize. The fact that Alabama went on this run in the middle of a deadly pandemic makes the season all the more remarkable and added to the overall difficulty. So if Alabama wins it all this year they will have done it facing more adversity than any previous national champion has ever had to face before. That would add to the legend and its case for being the greatest season in college football history.

Jefferson and Chase put up outstanding numbers like Smith’s season in 2019. Two guys put up Heisman quality numbers at wr on the same team in the same year.

The difference is Bama’s productivity in the run game. Clyde got it going once SEC play picked up. The other difference is that Bama has played far worse defensive opposition. That’s not even debatable at this point.

Still, that’s really impressive and I think all 3 guys deserve to be in the discussion.

Maybe you have a fair enough point to consider.

That is, before Covid even became an issue, 1) Alabama had a lot of players who COULD have gotten drafted last year decided to stay and contribute this year.

And 2) When Covid hit, none of Alabama's players decided to be quitters and abandon their TEAM.

Yeah, we need to win a couple more games first. But - if by the grace of the football gods that happens - why in the world WOULDN'T 2020 Bama be considered one of the greatest TEAMS ever?

There's been no stat padding against non-Power5 teams with directions in their names (we didn't even play the two worst teams in the conference, Vandy and South Carolina!). Nobody has ever beaten 11 SEC opponents in a single year. Until this year.

And that's before you even get to the longest ever NCAA consecutive streak of scoring 35 points in a game, and 3 out of the top 5 Heisman vote recipients.

Before we wrap it up with a couple more "top four" opponents, we have already played the 6th toughest schedule in the country and beaten 3 of the top 10 teams, and 6 of the top 30. Nobody else this year has more than 1 victory over top 10 opponents. IF we win out and other SEC teams do well, there's a very real possibility that we could end the season haven beaten 5 of the top 7 ranked teams - and one of the others would be US, so maybe Bama would have wins against 5 of the top 6 highest ranked teams available to play. THAT would be unprecedented.

So absolutely, Bama needs to win out and capture the national championship. That comes first and all focus should be on that up front. But if it happens, then yes... absolutely, Bama should be considered as one of the greatest if not THE greatest team ever. They will have earned it and would fully deserve it.
