Grossman should've won the Heisman in 01. One of the biggest snubs IMO.
Eh he's in good company - Peyton Manning got snubbed as well.
As for Grossman's toughness... he and Wuerfell both were two UF QBs who our defenses brutalized and neither one of them cared -- especially Wuerfell. I still don't understand how he took so much punishment.

Alot of Wuerffel's punishment had to deal with the fact that during most of his time at UF:
1) UF didn't have an "elite" OL
2) Spurrier didn't use the shotgun much if at all IIRC.

FINALLY put him in the shotgun in his last game.

That would be a good way to get your QB killed. I just remember the guy was unbreakable. There were so many hits that should've bothered him that he just shook off like it was no big deal. More than once I thought the guy was going to get maimed or knocked out.

frick that game
Tell me you wouldn't kill for UT and UF to be playing like that on a regular basis instead of the ugly arse football we've been playing lately.

Had UF beat Tennessee, they would've crushed LSU in the SECCG (sorry LSU fans, you know this is true)
Probably, Spurrier owns Saban

I guess it was karma for Gaffney's "td" the previous year.
Karma my arse, we outplayed them plain and simple, look to 2004 for that shite
Also my second favorite Volunteer win as a fan behind the 98 Fiesta bowl, I was running around like a person who just discovered meth

UT did look like the best team in the country that day. 2001 UF is perhaps the most talented UF team ever.

1998 was wild as hell on campus. Not just because we were winning but the Strip hadn't been stripped of being a giant party by KPD yet. Everyone had money to burn at the peak of Bubba's economy and there seemed no end in sight to the good times. People were getting outrageous offers just to work retail. Oh how wrong we were on all counts.

Hey... 2000 was karma for 1998. UF outplayed Tennessee in that game, but Collins Cooper...

After 08 UF, yes. 01 UF was insanely loaded.

Uh huh, UF had 30 rushing attempts for negative 13 rushing yards. UT led the entire game.

Hey, even the most crazy Vol fans on VolNation will admit that ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Fair enough. I do like it better though when we win and both teams are loaded and playing great football.

Hell of a game. UT was good that year (despite losing at home to an 8-4 UGA, headscratching..) but UF was on another level. Nobody gave UT a chance.
What's also "cool", for lack of a better word, to me is that it was played in December due to the 9/11 postponement. Can you imagine a bama/LSU or UGA/UF getting played the week before the SECCG? the buildup for that game was massive.

I can tell you this is why VolNation is extremely excited for the unusual late UT-UF game next season.
There are a bunch of posters over there whom believe Tennessee is better than UF in midseason in most years.
