Breaking News!!! The Mizzou Enigma Has Been Cracked!!! QB Mystery Solved.

I've been pondering the nonsense of Pinkel backing his hurt and hit-shy QB Franklin quite a bit. I'm surprised that no one has arrived to my conclusions yet. I haven't read anything remotely related to the conclusions I make in this thread.

Last night I was asleep when all of the sudden I awakened to a gutteral voice. My eyes popped open and I looked at the clock. It said 3:00 AM...the Devil's Hour. That gave me the creeps. I nervously looked around the bedroom and thought to myself I hope I was dreaming.

I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, rolled over and put my arm around my sleeping wife. She stirred and rolled over. I opened my eyes and realized I was face-to-face with a football demon who simply said, "It's all about the Texas Pipeline".




I screamed, fell off the bed, and then my wife turned on the light. "What's wrong, hun?" The football demon was gone.

I couldn't sleep. The Demon's message got me to thinking about Mizzou football. And then it hit me.

My theory is this:

I don't think Pinkel wants to stick with Franklin. I don't think he's loyal to a fault with Franklin (he is with Yost, but that's because Yost is a great recruiter). Pinkel wants to make Berkstresser the starting QB.

However, Pinkel is giving Franklin every chance to play because Franklin is a Texas kid. Pinkel doesn't want to burn the Texas pipeline. It's long been known that Pinkel and staff were very good at recuiting in Texas. They built up years of trust with Texas high school coaches and the parents of Texas football players.

Now, more than ever, the Texas pipeline is on shaky ground due to our move to the SEC. He doesn't want to piss off the Texas coaches and parents by essentially firing his star Texas QB. He needs Franklin to do well so other Texas high school standouts continue to look at Missouri as a good fit when Texas and A&M overlook them.

This situation puts Pinkel in a very awkward position. And this is the reason why no one on Earth can understand why he's playing Franklin, even though Franklin has said that he doesn't want to play.

This isn't about Franlin. It's about the Texas pipeline.
