OB opinions, what would you buy used?
Kenner
Blazer Bay
Baystealth
Nautic Star
Old as frick pathfinder.

That's what I'm finding in my price range, and I'm technically half Jewish so I'm not budging on price

What would you buy and why?

Pathfinder is a little older and higher. Found a few 2 and 4 strokes.

Just bought a 21’ Kenner Vision. Absolutely zero regrets.

Kenner

Had a Kenner 16 since 94 and it's amazing... bout to re-power since the 2 stroke Yammy is 34yo and I've gone through 2 power trim units to date

Hull is amazing and I've put it through hell

Any hull Kenner is associated with will be awesome i.e. Frontier

Had a Kenner for years. Handles the water great. So much so we ran out to the first few rigs out of Grand Isle, and never thought twice about it. Never had any hull issues at all.

I really liked my buddies Baystealth that he had. We would run to the rigs in the summer. Ride well. Seemed a little heavy in skinny water. He was also slightly underpowered I thought.

You'll get a lot more boat for you money with the kenner than the others. As long as nobody's drilled a bunch of improperly sealed holes in it than itll still be solid. I love kenner hulls.

Pathfinder builds a great boat but theyll be asking too much for it almost all the time. They've always been a high end pricey hull.

Lots of nautic stars out there. I wouldnt be scared of one if I found the right deal.

I wouldnt touch a used blazer or baystealth. I dont think their construction quality is up with the others.

What years did they have wood in the kenners?

like I told you, cant go wrong with kenner. my dad has a 97 21 with yammy 2 stroke and it looks bran new but he takes care of it. I think his has wood in it but have had no issues.

also stay away from kenners after 06, that's when kenner sold to bass pro and its basically a bass pro mako built boat with kenner on it.

pathfinders for sure are solid boats. im not a fan of nautic stars ride or layouts...plus read the hull truth about them delaminating and the issues so id stay away from those.

baystealths are tanks, I know where a used one is for sale that's in perfect shape.

blazers are good boats for the most part. keep looking..you will find the right one. I know where a frontier is for sale lol jk…

Bill Kenner’s contractual obligation ended in 2005 with BP. It took 3-4 years before BP wrecked the quality. My 05 23v has wood but buddy’s 07 21 doesn’t.
Used will always be a compromise so get as much in the deal as you can afford. What’s your real world budget? 2 or 4 stroke? Length?
Also realize you’re going to be spending money replacing and upgrading on a older boat/motor/trailer.
***deduct $$$$ from any Kenner deal if it comes with the galv box trailer, they ALL have cancer****

those are some fine rigs and hard to come by. blazer has the mold for those now and they are pretty nice.

but yea bass pro did ruin them eventually like you said. I keep telling him to buy a used frontier but they are hard to come by and out of his bidget

BB, has splashed 3 competitor hulls; Kenner 23V, PF, Majek. BB 2400(23V) is >$75k, 21 frontier is the best 21’ bb made for the $ imo. Know I two 23V forsale or coming up forsale.

Had talked to him way back in 1999 about having him build a special boat for me. Loved the 24', but what I wanted at the time was a full transom and mount a transom outrig to mount the motor on. Said he couldn't do it. Would of been a great boat to run offshore to close rigs.

Both hulls are good, one with 250 sho but the other one needs a repower. There are 4-5 kenners here in LC with full transoms with porta brackets $$$$$$. Mobile has the only twin in existence, 2 (140) that i know of. Buddy sold his kenner two days after posting and got ask. They are spartan boats that require little upkeep and ride like grandma's Puik.

Yeah wood is a deal breaker. I've been around boats my entire life living in leeville and a damn hairline crack that you dont see can ruin a hull with the swiftness. It happened on one of ours.
Also want to try to find something capped with rod storage. Every time a frontier comes up for sale, it's gone within a few days.
Every blazer I've been in has given me wet feet within a few hours of fishing in it. Something with the self bailing isnt righg

Blazers made from Kevlar and very lightweight. Bass boats anyway, I got beat up on Sam Rayburn with mine so bad that I pissed blood
