I think the last couple of years it was Freeze on 1st and 2nd down and Warner on 3rd. I could be wrong though.

Either of those is a stupid system, but that's what it's been.

My thoughts. One person needs to be calling all of the plays. If that person is calling poor plays consistently...then find someone who can.

What was the reasoning behind Freeze giving up 3rd down calls? Just to change it up? To keep Freeze mentally prepared to decide what to do on 4th down?

I'm pretty sure it's always been Werner on 1/2 and Freeze on 3rd.

Ben Garrett tweeted that Werner called around 2/3s of the plays Saturday night. Freeze needs to give up the reigns if that's the case because it was better overall.

If Werner calls 1st and 2nd down and Freeze calls third, and we had Werner call 2/3 of plays, then we had the exact same system. I think they changed that Saturday w/ Werner calling almost everything and that needs to stay.

At any rate, our 3rd down conversion % still wasn't the greatest against a defense that is second to everyone: 8/19 (42.1%). This has obviously improved over the Florida 5/14 (35.7%) and Memphis 4/13 (30.7%) games, but there's still quite a bit of work to do going forward.

I'm almost positive last year Freeze called 1/2 and Warner called 3rd. So this change was probably Warner calling everything and Freeze suggesting a play here and there.

Do people really thing Freeze would give up most of the play calling before he had too? Spurrier Jr. Is going to let Warner call plays? Not until the last 2 weeks happens.

I rewatched the game yesterday. There were still a lot of iffy calls in the redzone.
