update

The Lafayette Co. coroner says one person is dead after a wreck in Oxford. He's still working to ID the victim and notify next of kin.

This absolutely breaks my heart to hear. Prayers sent to the family. Its always a tragedy when a life is cut short at such a young age.

If any of you care , I have a story that may make some of you pay more attention to the road and maybe help prevent you from being involved in one of these horrible tragedies:

Please keep in mind I have no idea
What happened today or am at all suggesting this was anyone's fault:

Two years ago (10/23/10) I was involved in a car wreck on Hwy 7 & Sisk because my dumb arse was texting. Flipped my explorer 7 times was ejected from the driver's seat Btwn rolls 2 and 3. Landed face first on the pavement. Paramedics used difibulator on the way to the hospital. Was air lifted to the med where I spent 11 days. Only because I know I shouldn't be here today I always try to force my friends to pay more attention and get off the damn Phone when we are driving. I'm only saying all of this so maybe I can convince AT LEAST ONE of you to wait until you are stopped to send that next text. Please guys, it pains me to hear these stories because I know how much pain, emotional and physical, these tragedies can bring on a family. I don't know the circumstances behind what happened today but my wreck and a lot of others were 100% preventable.

A harrowing story. Puts things in proper perspective. Thanks for that.

Thank you. It really does mean a lot to hear that I helped in any way. I just don't want any one to have to go through what I did.

I was driving back from LR this afternoon after our big win ( ) and of course, texted about half the time. It's idiots like me that need to hear anecdotes like this.

Now, if only I could relay this to my kid sister.

I have had a similar wreck where my tie-rod broke and sent me into a ditch where I flipped my vehicle 7 times, shattered my hip and was air-lifted to the MED. This was a complete freak accident and something like this can happen at any moment ... we all should be more careful and pay more attention to our driving and those driving around us

First off, prayers to the Wheat family.

This hits rather close to home for me, as Sarah was a friend of my girlriend. They were in the same grad program, CSD. The CSD program is rather small, around 20 people, and all the girls are very close to one another. They are each assigned a "desk partner" who basically becomes your best friend for the next two years and today someone will be without their desk parther, clients will be without their clinican, somone will have to explain to the clients and parents that Sarah is gone, there will be a vacant seat in George Hall that once held a vibrant young woman, and there will be a lot of girls missing their friend today.

Sadly, I don't know that much about her brother, but if they were anything alike I'm sure he was a wonderful person with a big heart just like his sister.

The CSD program had a prayer service earlier today for the Wheat family and some of the girls are taking it extremely hard. I just ask that you keep them in your prayers as well as the Wheat family.
