Was it your dog that peed on me? You seem perturbed?

Schnauzer mix. He is a wild one. I'd be pretty lonely without him since my fiancé is off doing an internship

I'd be so bored without mine around. Entirely too much free time wasted, even with the law school workload I have.

I just go off experience with my own. Don't know if there's a bad bone in her body.

What year are you?

I'm on moot court and our competition is next month. I cannot put it into words how little I care about this competition

I've been dragging and procrastinating like a stone cold boss. I just can't make myself care about it.

Only a 1L now. Just got done with the skill session on Contract Negotiation and Drafting and biding my time until the semester starts. And I'm on that procrastinating game as well, so I know them feels

I haven't had a chance to look into moot court but I'm interested. What do you actually do and how to competitions work? The Negotiation thing was actually somewhat fun for what it was, so I'd be interested in doing that if only to put it on a resume.

Moot court is a required class here. I'm not sure if it is up there.

You basically are given an opinion from a lower court and then begin the appellate process of drafting the brief and preparing oral arguments.

I like appellate work; it's far more structured than the trial level.

There are huge advantages to moot court though. Outside of law review, it's the second most desired membership in terms of employment and employers. Over half the jobs I have applied for are law review/moot court only and, brother, I'm not on law review

The fiancé is a 1L too. She hated the skills thing y'all had. I hated to hear her talk about it

Those skills courses have come in handy for me, in all honesty.

For all intents and purposes, I now know how to fully and properly "litigate" a chapter 7 bankruptcy and it only took two three-hour session to learn how to do so

I believe that there is a class that we take at some point that serves as a "try out" for the moot court board, but I'm not entirely certain. They've been choosing our classes for us up until this point so I've had tunnel vision in regards to our classes. I'm gonna be completely lost when I have to do it on my own this semester.

But that sounds interesting. I have literally no idea what I'm going for being here. I'm just getting relatively good grades and figuring it out as I go. I still feel like this is all just a whirlwind of information and I'm just trying to find my niche in it.

You'll eventually figure it out. Well, you'll relatively figure it out. No one really has any clue what is going on in the legal world and you've probably realized this by now

I actually liked it. It was nice to have a 4 hour day, do my homework at 12, and be done by about 3 with nothing else to do all day. And its a graded 3 credit (i think) class in two weeks. Much better than having an entire semester of that kind of hell.

And I felt like I learned a lot, which also helps. I'll never look at the words "will", "shall", and "must" the same ever again.

I guess she learned something too. We just signed a new lease last week and was reading through it and it said "they will do something" and she was like this should be "shall"

Was like don't care, sign ha

If you gents don't mind me taking this back to the dog discussion, I have a soon to be three year old English Springer Spaniel.

And he's a fricking boss.

ETA: That's him at a little over 1 year.
