Thoughts on this weekend's series

The pitching was good as expected, but it looks like it will be more of the same give you a heart attack finishes by Huber (and it could just be this weekend, but I was hoping he would improve his accuracy).
I thought Bailey looked improved, which is comforting.
Thoughts on Ellis?
Bright spots on the offensive end? Turner looked good on Sunday, but he didn't do anything the previous two days. We should still be able to count on Mathis when it matters. Who else will step up power wise?
Overall, we seemed to get some clutch hits, which with our pitching will be enough to get us big places by playing small ball with the new bats situation, but I would still like to see a little more offensive production, and hopefully that will happen after the first weekend jitters.

TCU's Fri and Sat starters could be the best 1,2 punch we see all year. I think our hitting will come around the next 3 weeks.
I thought Ellis pitched well. He did his job on Sunday of getting us the lead to the 5th. Coach B probably wanted to see some other guys anyway.
Orvis and Allen had below average weekends. I hope this not a trend. I'm just happen we got the clutch hit more times than not. If we do that all year with this staff we are going to have a good year.

Ellis pitched well. I want to see him go 6+ before I feel comfortable with him as a Sunday starter. He was on a low pitch count yesterday.

I'm not sure why he got pulled. He had been on cruise control after the HR. I think Bianco wanted some other guys to get some innings. Laxer needs to stay pitching midweek games. He just doesn't have it out of the pen.

Ellis was on a 70 pitch limit. He strained a muscle and hadn't pitched in two weeks.
I thought Laxer looked sharp. His only slip ups were a double to TCU's hot hitter and a walk.

I loved the clutch hitting. That could be deadly with consistency from the pitching staff.

What leads you to believe that the 1,2 combo we saw on Friday and Saturday are going to be the best we see all year. Also what would be a good year in your opinion for this years ball club?

quote:Finnegan and Morrison are both All-Americans candidates this year. Morrison was an All-American last year and conference pitcher of the year. Finnegan didn't receive the same accolades due to a bad first half, but he beat Morrison out for the Friday spot this year.

Stanek and Astin are the only other 1,2 that are projected higher.
