they aren't doing it to offend anybody, they are just giving themselves something to do during a down time. They also do it during commercials and timeouts. Everyone around me that participated in a chant also clapped for the player when the injured player got up.

As someone already mentioned, I heard the hotty toddy cheer when one of our players was down. We don't take it personal.

I saw this and it was the most odd thing to me, given the cheer y'all just had ... after noticing it I didn't care as much but still booed for the sake of booing

IMO, I think the proper code of behavior is to simply not yell anything when a player is down.

I don't really care either way, but most other fan bases sit quietly and talk amongst themselves during these situations.

To each his own, no reason to get upset over it, but LSU fans are probably the only group I've seen do it (at least in the SEC).

That would be the "code". But even State does maroon and white cheers while a player is injured.

We's ain't in the United States...We's in Mississippi.
