I'm looking ahead to next year, and everyone is saying that we're screwed losing Reg and Murph, but is there really a drop off?

Here's what I see the starting 5 looking like.

Jarvis
Hendo
Snoop
AJ
Cox

I for one think we get better right off the bat by losing Nick Williams. I don't care if he was a senior leader he was awful.

I thought that AJ looked better than Reg for some of the year, and and AJ Cox front court could be awesome.

Brutus, Perez, and Millinghaus as first ones off the bench and they could only get better after getting some quality postseason playing time.

Am I the only one thinking we may actually be better?

Nick was the smartest player we had. He hit some big 2s for us last night at crucial moments. You sound like my dad.

And btw without Nick Williams, you can kiss that SEC tourney goodbye. He made some huge shots in that one. If you don't believe me go watch it

If he was the smartest player we had then we're screwed moving forward.

IMO he cost us the game last night fouling that on that made three with 2 minutes to go. That was the dumbest play we made all season.

I don't necessarily agree with this.

However, I do think that Cox and AJ can make an impact in replacing Murph and Reggie.

HA. You must've never played basketball. You don't lose on one play.

If you couldn't tell that he is one(Jarvis being the other) of the smarter players on our team, I just don't think you know much about basketball. Sorry

Obviously he made a bad play, but who makes the right play EVERY TIME? Geez

We are losing a guy that almost averaged a double-double and another that is one of the best interior defenders to play for Ole Miss. So yeah it's actually a pretty significant drop off.

Oh no You're completely right I know nothing about basketball because I think that a play was the turning point in the game. Sound logic there.

We we're taking control of the game up by 5 with two minutes left and you foul on a three? and give them a 5 point play to completely erase the lead. By no means was it his only dumb play of the year. And at the worst possible time in the biggest game of the year.

Sure you don't lose on one play, but the result of his effing stupidity shift the momentum in their favor.

But you're right I know nothing about basketball because I think Nick Williams is awful. Good argument.

I think that there can be just as much production from AJ and Cox.

Murph's obviously going to be missed the most, but Reg was so inconsistent all season and would just completely not show up for games. Or commit stupid fouls early and be in foul trouble for the whole game.

I disagree. Murph was a bigger liability offensively than he was a asset. Great rebounder that had a decent offensive game every 8 games or so.

Buckner fouled too much and was even less consistent offensively than Holloway.

Both cost us games at the free throw line.

I think Jones can be serviceable, but I don't think he can come close to matching Murph's production. And I have yet to see enough out of Cox to convince me that he shouldn't be playing left tackle instead of basketball. JMO though.

That's like saying were going to be better because we lose Buckner because he shot like 2-10 from the line.

The sad thing is Cox and Jones aren't much better in this regard.

Murph's production

I feel like Murph showed up for like 5 games this year.

Hendo's gone. Gonna get dat money in Europe.

As for the rest, who knows. Murph and Buck looked positively embarrassing at the rim on more than one occasion this season. Missing dunks, layups and wide open 5' jumpers. No one will miss their FT % either. But they played really well together, rebounded great and when they wanted to, they could take the frick over in the paint. I'm not sure AJ and Cox can do the same...

But I have absolutely zero clue if we'll be better, worse or same. I hope we're same or better, but here's hoping.
