Like I said, there is that special feeling every time I come home and I will always call MS home,

Ok, I think we've just about got right down to it now. This is what people are talking about.

I would never tell someone how great MS is. Maybe the people, but never would I brag on the state.

You will find most will agree with this. We are proud of where we are from, you call it that special feeling, not that we will boast that our state is the greatest at anything. We're just proud of where we are from and would like to see it move toward being something that we can brag on. I think maybe we feel the same way, it's just that a lot of us don't want to wash our hands of the place and leave, we would rather see it improve.

Many Southern schools are dealing with the issues discussed in this thread.

I know on the UNC campus the Black Lives Matters crowd regularly defaces the "Silent Sam" Confederate statute on campus and holds protests there; which, in turn, has spurred counter protests. The activists are also trying to remain Saunder's Hall since it was named after a Confederate General.

Where does it stop? After all the name Tar Heels has a Confederate connection (Lee proclaimed: "God Bless those Tar Heel boys"). Should UNC change it's nickname due to its history? What about Tenn, LSU, et al?
