Can anyone give us the cliff notes off 24/7's "Hurry Up & Wait" column?

It seems like CJ Avery has been at Ole Miss every weekend. Any word on where we are with him? Is his cousin still transferring?

If we get Genard and cj that would be an incredible defensive haul. I love Avery and was pissed we didn't offer him in the first place

The all-here point is not trivial. When Fuente departed, two of Memphis's best young players — Genard Avery and Jamarius Henderson — made noises about wanting to leave. But when Norvell handed out the official team roster Monday, both players were on it.

Does Genard still plan on tranfering?

With our recent success recruiting Texas. With an increasing Texas Alumni Base and In roads made at Big time schools in Texas.

Lets imagine the end of the 2016-2017 Football season where Texas and Texas AM have both struggled again and not met the lofty texas football expectations.

I think both Strong and The Drunkard will be out.

We need to lock in on Texas this cycle, the cards may align perfectly this year.

with Ole Miss and TCU Baylor benefiting.

and Houston will lose their head coach to one of Texas or Texas AM

We can focus all we want on Texas or any other state and I don't think it will make any difference on recruiting this cycle until we address/finalize the NOA.

So are you saying you think it could pick up after the NOA reply and we show what's in it and an idea of the punishment or not till around Aug when it's over if there is a hearing?

Things will pick up from May on but there will be a cloud lingering over us that will hold us back until the punishment has been passed down.

Yeah anyone who's expecting a lot from this class is going to be disappointed.

If the NCAA shite drags out (and it will), then a top 20-25 class would be a huge year, IMO.

If one of you has the time, use the google machine and research there might be some timelines we go off of when you look at the NCAA's punishment of MSU a few years ago. Just some quick searching, I found that they sat down with reps from MSU on April 19th and received their punishment June 7. Thats right at 50 days.

Im not quite that pessimistic. I think its a top 15 class. Just going to start late.

I don't think Freeze will ever let us slip out of the top 25. I can see us anywhere between 15-24. If we win the west I think that will help us get in the top 15 but yes its not going to be a historic year.

It all depends how much we disagree on. The NCAA has been working with Ole Miss on the response and negotiating the punishments/alligations. If they have pretty much agreed on it then I could see this rapped up in a few months say Juneish. But if we have a big disagreement on major issues then it would need a hearing and that would push it in to the season. The only major football allegation I could see that would need a hearing would be Saunders stuff. It all depends how bad those allegations are.

I feel we will finish up with at least 5-9 4*s and some solid 3*. That is a top 25 class. We have some great relationships with a bunch of 4*s. Akers, Little, Smith, Avery, the DE from Cali and ect.

So does anyone know if there is precedent established with the NCAA about if they go lighter on schools if:

1). They self report....been told by someone I actually trust that the Saunders stuff we had to report because it came out in the lawsuit.
2). That it occurred under a previous staff....so of hoping that since the Saunders stuff happened about six years ago under Nutt that they'd go easier. You could use USCw as an example but it isn't the same thing since Carroll was there when the investigation began whereas this staff & players were not.

So the new rumor making the rounds now is that an extention will be filed, but by a third party, not OM, so Vaughn or Saunders. This will delay it another 30 days. The NCAA will have 60 days to respond to our response and that's where the punishment will be laid out so expect to hear something by substantial during fall camp.

Self reported can help. It always looks better. The NCAA has made a point to say that they will go after coaches more then if it is a pervious staff. The Saunders comes down to 3 things in my opinion. One is how many players were involved? Because ULL had 6+ players on the team when it came out. How bad was what Saunders doing? He didn't just mess with ACTs he paid for players classes to qualify and gave them thousands of $$. Did he do that with Ole Miss?? Also how involved the staff or administration were with the allegations? We will have no idea till the NOA comes out.

Well, in terms of guys we are in on... I read that we are in the hunt for Trey Smith (4* OT from Jackson, TN)

fairly certain his highlight tape is more abusive than Jeffrey Simmons... It says in the beginning 140 pancakes and after watching this tape I have no doubt in that number
