I went to Holmes last year and saw every game. Maybe he improved a lot, but if you're counting on him to immediately replace Wells, there will be lost production.

I don't know what they are counting on him to do, I just threw that out there because he's on the smaller side for a linebacker and fast.

ETA: Jung's highlights on 24/7 look pretty impressive.

Jamal Peters.

Why do you want Peters to play LB so bad?

After Bassfield's game last night they asked Peters what he would be playing in college and he said that Mullen told him he would be playing DB and getting some snaps on offense, but take that FWIW.

I haven't really watched Peters film, but what is his talent level in comparison to Tony Conner?

Peters is the better athlete but he isn't as instinctual as Connor. But most players aren't. That's where Connor separates himself.

Not sure how you can say that. Watched plenty of TC through the years at SP and he legitimately took 1/2 the field away from opposing teams. His back pedal, break and straight away speed rivals anyone I have seen at the HS level the past +6 years. Plus he easily would come up and stop a RB in his tracks by laying some wood. Throw in his instincts and you have a legit 1st round NFL pick.

*Peters may be faster but TC was much more refined with the little things (ie. pedal, hips etc....) and much more physical.

Quickness, straight-line speed, and things like that is what I was referring to.

I agree, Conner was more refined than most high school players that you will see. I am a bit concerned that we haven't pursued more safety help though. C. J. may not be fully ready for the starting role. Also, I have heard rumblings that Mike Hilton could take over Prewitt's spot next year. So, maybe that's the plan because Chief Brown is still not fully 100%.

TC was a better prospect but only because he was just a freak. He will go down as the best safety to come out of Mississippi in the modern day. Peters is a game changer though. I'm thinking something personal happened between Peters and OM considering he's committed to State, won't take our calls and has an official set up to Southern Miss.

Especially when you consider we signed 2 of his teammates. He has never given us the light of day. Maybe the Moore twins will get in his ear over Christmas break.

Because he's gonna be too big to play safety by his sophomore year

Maybe because he's a 4 star by 24/7, and Linton is rated an 84?

And what's Womack rated on 247 with offers from everyone. Look at offers not one ranking

So, does anyone want to have a conversation about some old discussions we had about Jay and one other guy?

Why? Y'all said y'all pushed him out got better players and never signed any. Y'all don't push players out for grades. Every year y'all sign and place 2-3 kids

He's listed at 6'3" 200lbs. So he's likely 6'2" 190 lbs.

Maybe he will grow, but sometimes strength coaches will keep them at the same weight, just cut em up a little.

I get what you're saying, but I think we have done pretty dang good with the guys that have zero other offers besides ours.

Let's make a deal. You don't hold me to some bullshite that Engie said, and we can have an honest discussion about this whole thing.

I said that I wish we would have held on to Johnson when he flipped, and just said it a minute ago.

I could be wrong about Linton, but personally I don't think he has any business with either of the offers, from y'all or State. Again, I could be wrong, that's just my opinion.

All I am saying is that once again, the flipping of these two players was made out to be a HUGE deal and once again, it won't be in 2-4 years. The way y'all hype these things up it's made out to be a 5* 4 year contributor that will eat our souls all 4 games. It just isn't the case.

Ah, I didn't know that.

Maybe my feigning for a top flight Safety is blinding me.

I want him to be a great Safety, not another LB. We're good in that department.

Just caught up reading the 10 pages of the thread after a week vacation, sounded like we were about to get a bunch of people and then it cooled down all of a sudden.

Want Newsome bad. What happened with Cece?

When David asked Pellerin what he thought about Ole Miss bringing in a juco QB Pellerin said he thought it was the smart thing to do. LSU hasn't contacted him in about a month and as of now we will be his only visit.

I may be wrong, but I get the vibe that Cece really wants to stay in Florida if possible. We are still recruiting Newsome, but apparently he is a Tennessee lean.
