Players put into the NFL during the Dan Mullen era at State:

Gabe Jackson - 3rd Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Darius Slay - 2nd Round - was recruited by Mullen
Jonathan Banks - 2nd Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Josh Boyd - 5th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Fletcher Cox - 1st Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Vick Ballard - 5th Round - was recruited by Mullen
Charles Mitchell - 6th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Derrick Sherrod - 1st Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
KJ Wright - 4th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Pernell McPhee - 5th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Anthony Dixon - 6th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen
Jamar Chaney - 7th Round - NOT recruited by Mullen

# of Rebels drafted since 2010 - 4, with none in the first round.

Funny that you used 2009 as a reference with MSU, but then jumped up a year and used 2010 as a reference for Ole Miss to make the same point. Coincidence that Ole Miss had 2 first round picks in 2009?

I just posted this in the thread, but it's been anchored. Thanks sorantable! Tornado Alley, do a breakdown of starters:players_put_in_the_NFL for each SEC team.

Jamal Peters said his recruitment is "crazier than ever" since he committed to Mississippi State.

"Those coaches from schools all over the place are really starting to show me so much love," Peters said. "My phone is going crazy since I committed. They keep telling me they're going to be recruiting me until I actually sign."
Would it take a lot to get the state's top prospect to decommit from Mississippi State?
"Not really," he said. "Don't get me wrong, I really love the Bulldogs. But I'm still very open. If a school really started to show me lots of love, who knows, man."
LSU, Florida State and Ole Miss are making "major" pushes.
"They're really trying hard to get me, man," Peters said. "Florida State the most. They're really showing love."
The Bassfeild safety visited LSU last weekend, calling the visit "good."
He said his favorite part was a one-on-one conversation with Tigers coach Les Miles.
"(Miles) told me if I wanted to be great, I should come to LSU," Peters said.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder said he was "very impressed" with LSU. But not enough to get him to reconsider his pledge to the Bulldogs.
"I didn't think about decommiting once," he said. "Not one time."
Why?
"I don't want to go to a program that's already established," he said. "That's what I like so much about Mississippi State. I don't want to go somewhere that's already good. I want to help make a program a winner. I know I can do that at Mississippi State."
Programs may be making Peters think, but he said it would be "very, very hard" to get him to leave the state.
"I love the idea of playing at home and with my brothers," he said.

Please refer to my finishing our class post. I think we get Peters, Leo, Washington, and Champion.

I'm not sure where this was, but a lot of that was wrong. Fixed it for you.

Meh.....Jackson, Banks, Boyd, and Cox committed to Croom...
The earliest being 7 and a half months, and the latest being 4 and a half months before Mullen was hired. I'm sure you'll still claim it was all Mullen though.

Mullen still had to close the deal...I don't think it's ridiculous to give him credit.

Croom recruits the kids for 2-3 years, Mullen for 2 months. I mean Mullen gets a little credit for holding onto some and I believe a few decommitted but the work had been put in. All he had to do was convince him that he didnt suck.

^^^^ Mullen gets credit for not letting them bolt, but in a similar situation, I have never considered Walton, Mathers, Hilton, or Gross Freeze croots. Even though they were in his first class.

24/7 Doesn't show date committed after they sign, but I'm about 99% sure Banks wasn't even on the map before Mullen got there and Mullen's staff found and offered him. So just going off that I'm going to say you really don't know what you're talking about with those dates.

Hilton committed August 8th, 2011 before Nutt's last season. Never had second thoughts from what I remember.

Nope. Banks committed to Croom. He committed April 2008.

Yeah, even if the kid was not recruited at all until that coach got there, it isnt a good representation of a coaches evaluation skills. He didnt see him live. Didnt see him at a camp. Hasnt built a relationship. That first full recruiting year is the first one that actually counts. If you are bragging about what a coach did in two months more than what he's done in the following years then you have a problem. I understand State fans are using that simply to win an argument, but come on guys, you know thats dumb. What OM did with Nutt has nothing to do with now.
