Tradition, bigger school, more fan support, better facilities, easier to win in big ten, he's also from PA.
Those are just a few. He never got the fan support at Vandy. Can't blame him for leaving. He's a heck of a coach.

I guess we will see... I just don't see how you walk away from the stability of Vandy and how much your AD believes in you.

Coaches leave what are perceived to be 'great situations' all the time. I think at the end of the day, the fanbase never got behind the team fully. Regardless of the Sandusky thing, Penn St. has great tradition. He can recruit really well there too. Would not be surprised if he brought in a top 10-15 class there next year.
