List of Problems

I mean, this could be a long thread, there are too many to even remember.
How many recruits will decom if this continues? Our schedule next year is same plus Michigan OOC.
I worry that BV said he was more concerned with D last night. They had missed tackles but without offensive help they can only do so much. Held tx scoreless in first qtr. Set O up for success first three drives.
Our offense is so out of sync I wonder if all they practice is small individual units and not as an overall unit.
And play calling is so bad. We had some early success running then went away. Lets look at the run attempts:
Hawkins 20
Barnes 14
Sawchuk 2
Tatum 1
So 17 runs by running backs and all focused on Barnes.
And we only tried 4 air yard passes over 10 yards attempted.
2014 Sooners Offensive Stats:
204 yds/game passing
261 yds/game rushing
38.9 pts/game
2024 Sooners Offensive Stats:
166 yds/game passing
122 yds/game rushing
24.3 pts/game
Even with that Heupel got fired. And this years stats are front loaded with our easier OOC schedule.
This is not a deal where Brent can wait til after season to make a move. I don’t like in season knee jerk changes but there is too much evidence to do nothing.
A 5* qb and another who won big elite qb camps have done nothing. At this point we know its not all on the QB. Seth killed JA in not taking RPO away as an option. If you call a run or pass only it shortens the decision tree and helps cover a weak oline. Yet Seth kept it and now JA confidence is shot and Hawkins got killed yesterday.

Silver lining?
We have lost to teams ranked #1 and #8
But to save the season we need an OC. Neither QB has improved since Spring. Thats on coaching.
And we need to spend some serious NIL on Oline. Can’t just count on in season improvement like years past.

Who do we get for OC at this point?

Tap G Riley. Not even trying to be funny.
Or, wait for USC to overreact and try to mend the burnt bridge with LR and give him a sweetheart deal with the understanding he is probably a 1-2 year fix before he takes his next HC job.
The time for emotion is over, we need to be brutally pragmatic and make decisions that result in Ws. This loss is inexcusable and worse than 49-0.

No Rileys! No more people related to OU. And LiaR has an $88m buyout lol, they would love to unload him anyway they can.
Get the guy from UNLV. And find someone to fill in rest of season.

People on the radio suggest Brennon Marion from UNLV but he doesn't seem to ever settle in one place for very long so he may not be a good suggestion.

Another name mentioned on the radio that seemed popular among the host was Texas State Head Coach G.J. Kinne. I was bouncing around several stations and dont remember who was discussing him.
Link to G.J. Kinne's playing and coaching path.
ESPN article on G.J. Kinne
I'm looking forward to listening to the podcast The Oklahoma Breakdown with Ikard and Lehman. Under The Visor podcast are always Great to listen to as well.

What upsets me is Brent not doing anything to fix it. And the voices are getting louder. If he waits too long the portal floodgates will open and set us back years. Its already too late for most fans but could get much worse.
This had to be known in spring and summer camps too. Then now 6 games in season and no actions. Seth has destroyed all the great work the D side of ball has done.
With NIL and portal pretty much being fee agency a coach can’t wait it out like old days where players couldn’t transfer as easy. So the players reinvested in fixing problems. Nowadays they can just check out and save body for portal season. Meaning a HC has to make quicker changes than history has shown.
I am not seeing Brent address our offense. So many forced errors they are not playing as a group. And if he can’t see it we’ll never get it fixed.
I like Brent and he had a lot on his plate. But nonetheless our offense is historically bad yet after game he said he was most disappointed in defense. Thats not good to hear it means he saw nothing of our massive offensive problems.
I’m seeing fans on twitter hoping for a loss this weekend to force him to make changes. Thats bad. I’ll never root for a loss but if fans are saying it then they become disengaged with the program and talk bad about it. Recruits then see it and get worried. Seth has really set us back big time and Brent is blinded to it.
Performance over loyalties is everything or else we become Nebraska

Here’s one idiot with almost 5k followers. This is not the way and no real fan ever roots for a loss period. If Brent didn’t get the hint after losing to tx then nothing will. All this does is help hurt recruiting

Brent was not my first choice. Great DC; never seemed like HC at a all-time power program material. I'll leave it at that.
He came in thinking he didn't need a DC. Game management suffered b/c he was 2/3 DC, 1/3 HC. He had to learn that the hard way. Low IQ stuff. Lost a few games because of it.
Brent knew well in advance that Lebby would not be with the team after 2023; he could have found the best young OC in the nation but went the lazy route instead. Now, we are learning THIS lesson the hard way. Littrell made lateral moves his entire career, never stayed anywhere as OC for more than 3 seasons, got fired from UNT after 7 seasons as HC. Promoting him to OC at OU was straight-up retarded, and here we are.
The fact he is diffusing and obfuscating the issue, avoiding any discussion of the offense and turning it into defensive issues, tells me he is kind of a dumbfrick and doesn't realize recruits and current players are listening. Dude's a career DC for a reason but Joe C, Stoops, Harroz, et al just had to keep it in the family.
Joe C didn't find Stoops. He hired a headhunter (Chuck Neinas) to find the best options out there, and Stoops was at the top of the list. Guarantee you Brent would not have been near the top of that list if Joe C had initiated a real search.
I love seeing us playing actual defense again, but the overall product looks like the Boo Blake days. This shite makes me sick.

Joe Castiglione was at Missouri and was updating the Missouri Campus into the modern age.
Oklahoma saw what he was doing. Joe is still in Norman and Stoops is always near as a trusted advisor.
Lloyd Noble is a dinosaur. The New Stadium will be ready in 2027. More improvements to Memorial Stadium are coming.
Brent is the Head Coach. Replacing him won’t be as easy. The Monster is old and tired. Buying out Brent’s contract to appease a few chicken little’s won’t happen anytime soon.

I am not throwing in the towel on Brent. Seth should have been fired but BV doesn’t believe in mid season firings. As much as we fans want it, the OC they look to hire (if they fire Seth after season) will respect BV for doing that. We could limit candidates by making too quick of firings (since Seth is in year 1 as OC).

Hire Bobby Petrino and make him and Venables co-head coaches. They essentially have two head guys at Arkansas.

The biggest problem is OC. When will we stop hiring legacy OC’s? Josh and Long come to mind. Seth is out of his league. Yes, we have problems but you can scheme some of it.
And why not run way more? Even if it fails it runs clock and keeps game in hand. We have an awesome punter and good defense. If you start to open holes it changes everything. Gives oline confidence too. Worst case you go 3 and out but you pin them deep via great punter.
If you run more then over course of game some passes will open up then. There are things any competent OC can do.
Yet BV wot fire him mid season. So its going to cost us a bowl, recruits and likely lots of portals. BV changed QBs why can’t he change OC? I know he doesn’t like to make knee jerk decisions but its going to cost us bigtime.

I can’t stress enough that not coming out run heavy blew a game that was there. Left column is SC. D did their job.
You cannot spot any team 21-0 when your D has only had 1 series.
Imagine if we just run and go 3 and out, punt and pin them deep. That ls worst case. But maybe we find something in run game. As game wears on and its close that keeps everyone invested
Seth has to go now before we lose our classes. .
