The rebuild has begun. I am not selling Hawkins short either, I think he needs 1 year with an actual OC to learn and grow and take over in 26. But would be ready in case of injury in 25. This is good for him and takes pressure off yet he can still compete.
But having an experienced QB along with his OC and QB coaches is huge. Our D will be better with O help too.

I like everything I see and hear about Mateer. But I see a lot of awful defense in those 3+ minutes of highlights, he won't have many of those QB run opportunities in the SEC. Getting him some OL help is imperative.

Of course. But some youngsters got great reps. A good incoming class. Already got a portal oline from Stanford. More to go though. And we have an actual OC to scheme to our strengths. Plus an actual QB coach. And wide receivers. The 2 we picked up yesterday are both big producers. Its not hope either, like recruits. Actual production.

You probably think I am being overly pragmatic, but I have to play devil's advocate here: they're both coming from FCS schools. So there is a little hope required.
Disclaimer: I have faith that we will be more than fine at WR with these guys, Burks, Gibson and the sophomore WR class.
