OU wins marathon 9 inning game taking almost 4 hours
This was originally set for Norman but changed to Globe Life earlier in Feb (field work?).
We used 8 pitchers each got 1 inning and 1 got 2 innings. Skips way of testing bench pitchers to get them some run to learn and improve. We walked 10 batters and gave up 6 hits. Most alarming we had 3 fielding errors and 2 wild pitches.
I think after 3 games F/S/S our team was tired and a win is a win.

If he can keep this control all season would be a game changer for OU and career changer for Cam

Cam in 2nd outing of year
5.0 IP | 3 H | 1 R | 0 BB | 7 K
Thats 2 great games for him, big if he keeps it up in conf play

OU opens up a 17 game homestand. Their net is off the charts. Knew they’d score this year but holy smokes!

I know we started hot like this last year and its Coppin State, but I'm thinking there's something different about this team.. BOOMER

We knew the bats would be better. If you recall last year when our ace pitcher pitched on Fridays he was so good. And then our bats failed him game after game.
Skip went and got some hitters. And existing players were coached up and had a whole off season to practice and improve. So thats a net plus.
Pitching was my worry. But yet again Skip is a pitcher whisperer. Cam was projected as first round MLB talent if he could ever get ball control. Last year was his first here, came over from LSU. And had lots of ball control issues. This year so far he looks like a new pitcher. In his first outing he had an early inning small stretch with some issues but kept composure and pitched out if it. Thats something he never did last year.
Then the Sat pitcher Mercurious looks great too. He seems to have flourished here under Skip coming in as a transfer. If those 2 can keep it up combined with bats we could be dangerous.
I still need to see it in conf play but all signs appear to show us better in both sides of ball. Our SEC road schedule is a gauntlet of ranked teams though. Last year we ended 14-16 in conf so if we can get to 18-12 that would secure us a regional and who knows what else. Thats 4 more conf wins which isn’t that big on paper but is hard to do in that conf

I use BA as they seem to be the most consistent over the past few years
