All things being equal, those 3 points would have had OU up by 2 with the ball at 2:00.

Exactly! It changes the whole way we run offense. Maybe we run more which it seemed our RBs were so close to busting a big one. But we took ball out if their specialty.
I said when it happened the 3pt FG non-try would cost us and it did.

I don’t know if this is a valid point or not, but I don’t think the old “riverboat gambler” schtick that helped make Bob Stoops so beloved is going to work in this era. Good or bad, this is now professional football. I don’t know of many good (or bad) NFL coaches who would have left those three points on the field.

The saying is take all points available until at least the 4th quarter. Only then depending in situation do you maybe gamble.

Whats ironic about the injury report is Mateer has stayed healthy. Not wishing injury on anyone but its the only way we’ll ever see either of the other 2 QBs. Arbuckle will not risk playing them because if they do better it makes him look bad is my guess. He is going to sink our ship on his way out the door end of season.
Only way to salvage season is to bench him and try someone else most likely the freshman. Because every fan knows this season is already lost and seeing Bowe get reps and learn would at least give fans hope for next year and something to root for.
Those saying our oline is too banged up to play him are wrong. Our oline has sucked for years and will suck again next year so its best to get Bowe used to playing with a leaky injured oline now.

Then put him in the fricking game! Even a few series vs GA once game was lost woulda been so valuable. Same for Newbauer. I said Newbauer in GA game because season wasn’t lost and he is probably a tick better than Bowe due to experience. But once season is over then use Bowe.
Technically we are not mathematically eliminated from conf title game because we only have 2 losses. But reality says its over. Get Bowe some playing time so we know what we have/need for next year.
