Yeah, and the poor man's copyright (mailing it to yourself) does not work.
It can be a tough racket to get into.
I do know how you feel about writing at the end of the day. I do a lot of SEO writing (search engine optimization... it sounds dull and God it is) every day so finding time and energy to churn out 5 pages of deathless prose isn't exactly easy at night.
My advice, and a piece of advice is like a rectum, everyone has them and they usually smell, would be go ahead and copyright some of your better songs when you have the time and money and then try to sell them. Worst that happens is you get diddly.
