Dennis Quaid in the Big Easy was pretty bad. Of course that was supposed to be southern Cajun.

Yeah, that was horrible, no doubt about it. Was that funky looking yankee gal in that one, or was it another one, where her Southern Drawl was so bad ... she's a New Yorker. Ellen Barkin or something like that?

And pretty-much every actor in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil sucked donkey balls with their Southern Drawl except one or two actual Southerners.

It was Ellen but I honestly can't recall her attempt at the drawl. Would need to go back and watch parts to see, if I can find it. I do remember that she looked hot in the kitchen scene and she doesn't usually.

Matt Damon actually does a pretty good job in the rainmaker, I second that nick cage in con air is one I the worst that comes to mind.

Damon spent time working in Knoxville as a bartender in order to get that accent. After full immersion here, he actually hired one of his customers at the bar to coach him on dialect. That is a LOT more work than most American actors will put in to get a southern accent right but it's why Damon's is so good. I think he understood that being from Boston and having an accent that's mocked the same as ours that it needed to be done right.

Now the absolute best is Nathan Fillion. When I first saw him on Buffy, I swore up and down that he was not only southern but specifically from here in E. TN. Well it turns out I was kinda right... his accent is ours but he's Canadian. He picked up our accent because his best friend is from here.
