For what? I have torn my ACL in the last year, but I quit going cause I felt that it was something I could do on my own

I went to get perscribed to something for anxiety really
It's actually "prescribed" and take this from someone who works in the healthcare field and has also worked in behavioral health. Most therapists are very good at emeshing themselves in your life to the point you feel like you need to keep returning to them to feel better. It's a scam. Most therapists aren't there helping you search for the answers, they are there to ensure repeat customers.

ETA: I might also add most people that go to therapists tend to be victims of something they don't want to give up. My advice, whatever it is that is bothering you.....get over it and move on. I just saved you $100.00

if you don't think a therapist has an agenda, then you must not be footing the bill.

Unfortunately it is one of the most insightful and truthful statements in this thread. Like I said, I saw personally how thisfield operates and it turned my stomach to say the least. Prior to me departing a private behavioral health hospital I worked in in Jackson I actually reported the facility to the Attorney General for insurance and medicaid fraud.

I go hang out and play guitar with a Therapist/Preacher/Friend.I leave a $20 on the counter sometimes to help with the power bill. He's got a great handle on life and I've definitely become a happier person in the last couple of years.

that's fine and all, but meditating doesn't put me into a xanax coma.

I've only been to one once, and it was only because I was in college and it was free (well, the cost was factored into my student dues anyway).

I don't get the stigma in society that if you see a therapist you're "crazy" or something's wrong with you. Life throws people all sorts of shite and people have all sorts of problems..sometimes it's nice just to be able to have a professional to talk to and let it all out. The time I went in college the advice they gave didn't really help me at all, but other than my best friend they were the only person I felt comfortable sharing my issue with. It was nice just to be able to talk with someone.
