Gut
Or depends on the immediate payoff vs. desired end state
Or on purchases, will you ever have the chance to in the future?
I'm kinda bad about hip shooting sometimes too..

What would you say is the tipping point for you?

I'm terrible at making decisions involving large purchases. Not enough logical thought.

The ME factor kicks in pretty fast, but not to the point where it has any negative effects towards others or anyone's well being that I'm responsible for.
For example, I'm usually frugal.. Since we found out we were expecting a child I have been buying every nice reasonable (and a few unreasonable) things that I've kind of always needed and wanted, but wouldn't shed the pine on.. Only because I know for a fact that as soon as the baby gets here I'll be all about her as far as money goes. This would be instant payoff. Nobody is affected, I can still save the $$ back, have the things I want and to a point it's still justifiable.
As far as jobs, it's more on desired end state. I could make more right now in a few other areas in Mississippi, but they're in terrible locations and lack REAL upper mobility. $$ talks though. Loud.
It's all about what works for you. If one of the three choices isn't already the blaring winner, I'd be looking for the 4th one.

Hmm that's a good point.

no. just an anti-fatalist and extreme optimist.
the world is going to turn out how the world turns out. sometimes it sucks, and sometimes it's awesome, but life is life. you can make good decisions that turn out bad and bad decisions that turn out good. when something not positive happens from that decision you can do three things, bitch and moan about it, build a time machine to go back and fix it, or learn and move on with the choice you've made.
I live my life to the fullest of all of the above with one caveat, getting laid. no other single factor of my life hinges so much and so precisely on the decisions i make from my waking moment to the time when kids are in bed.
