I absolutely love The War of the Arrows. It is a historical Korean movie about a guy that is trying to rescue his sister from some Mongolians. I think it is still on Netflix. If you don't like foreign movies with subtitles, skip it, but it is a worthwhile tough guy movie.

I don't know if it's my favorite but I'm probably the most nostalgic about The Shining as weird as that sounds.
I was 10 when I saw it and it scared the living hell out of me. I had nightmares for a week. No other movie has ever affected me like that.

I love Midway, but I think Tora! Tora! Tora! is a better film. Midway had the better known actors though.

I have not seen Spectre yet is it worth me buying as a DVD, as I have most of the Bond set (exception of Lazenby and Connery last one)

Mulholland Drive is real good.
In that vein I put...
Hollywood Confidential
Seven
Changling
Chinatown
Usual Suspects
End of Watch
Prisoners ( 2013 Hugh Jackman & Jake Gylenhall )

I forgot to add two on to my list:
The Great Gatsby (with Redford), it has the best line in a movie ever talking about relationships "rich girls don't marry poor boys"--Daisy
Stalag 17
