Anyone on welfare lives in concrete block apartments with the bare necessities (heat, fridge, AC, washer, dryer).

AC is a luxury according to HUD. Not required.

It's considered a luxury here in Bitmingham. I'm not required to provide AC units for my tenants. And it gets hotter than hell here in the summer.

I am required to provide: heat, stove, and a refrigerator.

It's suppose to be illegal to do that directly. Some EBT cards allow for a cash back option tho and they will get the cash back and go buy cigs and alcohol though. Might be what he means

I watched a lady go up the register with a single grape in her hand and hand it to the cashier, the cashier weighed it, and rang it up. The lady swiped her ebt card got $40 ( I think ) in cash back, walked next door to beer store, and walked out with a case.

I can't stand going in a gas station and some thug throws five bags of chips on the counter and a jungle juice and then pulls out the EBT card. If you are poor enough that I am paying for your meals, you should get canned veggies and rice. Maybe you will decide to strive for something better.

I saw this in Starkville on Saturday and thought the same thing.

That's what I spend my money on. Why can't she do the same thing?

Yes she is, with money that has been given to her.

Just like I'm paying for my beer with money my employer gives me.

I worked in a specialty grocery store once and we had people buy caviar all the time with food stamps.

So you earn it. Quite a big difference.

She earns hers, too. By living in squalor, doing without luxuries that I have and spending all of her time gaming the system.

All I'm saying is you can't blame her for wanting beer. We all want beer. She obviously gets enough sustenance to make it to the store and carry her beer out, so what's the big deal?

If you can't afford basic necessities on your own, you should not be allowed to use your gov't provided money to buy alcohol. That's just fricking stupid.

Why?

To many of us, alcohol is a necessity.

So, you're okay with handing your hard-earned money to someone and them buying alcohol with it while they have 3 kids starving at home?
