You know how as you get older you learn to appreciate really good music?

Somehow even when it came out (circa 1987), my friends and I just immediately knew that The Joshua Tree was one of the greatest albums of all time.

Spoiler alert: it was.

This one time U2
made this album and it was force
added to everyone’s phones.

On September 9, 2014, Apple and Irish rock band U2 gave 500 million iTunes users a free copy of their album Songs of Innocence without asking. The album appeared in users' iTunes accounts during Apple CEO Tim Cook's iPhone 6 launch event, and many people noticed it was automatically downloaded. Some called the move a PR disaster and worse than spam, and U2 was even named the most hated band in America.

And then they made the mistake of exploring their creativity (all within their rights as artists) and you get things like Zooropa and they never really could get back what they had going early on.

Yep. When you explode in popularity at a very young age and end up surrounded by yes-men and throngs of people throwing themselves at everything that comes out of your mouth, I can see the draw of believing you can change the world, but the political activism route usually does nothing but ruin the original product for the U2s and R.E.M.s of the world.

U2 is a bit of an enigma in this sense because in addition to drifting away from their deconstructionist roots at some point, they also fell into corporate culture like Lexag mentioned, which further alienated another huge chunk of their audience.

They did have an amazing style and sound for their era (which we sort of take for granted today), ultimately influencing a ton of even seemingly-unrelated modern artists. It's a shame they started sniffing their own farts at some point.

He’s not a Gus boy….just a Hog fan. Good as gold….whether you agree with his opinions, or not.

ETA: tell him I'm sorry I guess?

but George Wilson was a great WR for the Hogs his entire college career. His switch to defense at the NFL level was a great story. Nutt did nothing wrong and it's crazy to pretend he did

"targeting Mallet as a tight end" is absolute overblown Hogville bullshite - it was high school football camp, it meant nothing

"DMAC as a safety"... Most oldhead coaching staffs took every true freshman and made them practice both sides of the ball for the first few days of two-a-days. Again, this is a bunch of Hogville fricking idiots making a mountain out of a molehill
