I remember this so well. Very sad for those involved.
Radcliff Bus Crash
Twenty-five years to the day after the nation's worst drunken-driving crash killed 27 people on a church bus in Kentucky, survivors and advocates will gather for a memorial service in Radcliff, Ky.
On May 14, 1988, a church bus carrying 67 people, mostly children from a Radcliff youth group, was returning from a day at Kings Island in Ohio when it was hit head-on by a drunken driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 71. Twenty-seven were killed and 34 were injured.

What kind of vehicle was the drunk driving?

And to mark the anniversary, the NTSB has voted that the legal limit should be lowered from .08 to .05

I'm pretty sure he was driving a Toyota pickup, but not 100% sure.

My thought exactly, how the hell do that many people on a bus get killed?

At 10:55 p.m. on Saturday May 14, 1988, Larry Wayne Mahoney, a drunk driver in a pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction on an interstate highway in a rural, unincorporated area of Carroll County, Kentucky collided head-on with a gasoline-powered former school bus which was in use as a church bus. The initial crash was exacerbated when the gasoline from the ruptured fuel tank of the bus ignited immediately after impact, which also blocked the front loading door. Difficulties encountered by the victims attempting to evacuate the crowded bus quickly in the smoke and darkness through the only other designated exit, the rear emergency door, resulted in the death of 27 people and injured 34 of 67 passengers. Six passengers escaped without significant injury. Mahoney also sustained injuries.

Carrollton, KY bus crash
The drunk served 10 years 11 months in prison. Not much for causing 27 deaths.

Forget the fire, you'll be dead long before it gets you.
How long do you think it would take that vehicle to fill with smoke rendering the air hard to breathe and see - particularly remembering that it was at night?
Now, fill that bus with kids. Block one exit with fire and crash damage. Picture the other crammed with kids all trying to get to it. Maybe they can't get it open, maybe there's stuff (or trampled bodies in the aisle).
It is very, very easy to see how so many died.

Yes it is, very sad. That's why I pay for multiple. And every weekend. They wouldn't have to sentence me. I'd kill myself over the guilt.

As much as I love to drink massive amounts of alcoholic beverages, I've never once gotten behind the wheel of a vehicle while in an inebriated state.
It's not that hard to get a ride or call a taxi or walk home.

ok.
Point is, I'd give any girl a ride to help them out.
A random dude with a flat-billed hat on? Nope.
