OP 10/8/2018: Just in time for the upcoming new chapter in the "Halloween" movie franchise, Tropical Storm Michael has now turned into Hurricane Michael and is located between the Yucatan Peninisula and Cuba, tracking north at 7mph, with a cold front expected to turn it to the northeast. Rapid intensification is expected in the next 24 hours and it is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane (Cat. 3 and above) on Wednesday in the Forgotten Coast area of Florida (my favorite part of that State).
UPDATE 10/9/2018 AM: The storm track predication models show that the track of Hurricane Michael has slipped west a bit and is now predicted to make landfall between Panama City and Mexico Beach. The hurricane has intensified to a Cat. 2 with 100 mph winds. It is expected to continue to strengthen to a Cat. 3 with 120 mph winds. Landfall is expected early Wednesday afternoon.
UPDATE 10/9/2018 PM: Hurricane Michael is now a Cat. 3 major hurricane with 110 m.ph. winds. The prediction models now show a little more shift to the west with Hurricane Michael set to make landfall at Panama City around the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday. The windspeed is now expected to reach 125 mph.
UPDATE 10/10/18 AM: Hurricane Michael experienced further intensification overnight and is now a Category 4 major hurricane with 145 mph winds and is moving north at 13 mph. It is expected to make landfall between Panama City and Mexico Beach early to mid afternoon today. Storm surge is likely to be several feet-even as high as 9-13 feet. If you did not evacuate and are in its path, find high ground and take shelter now.
UPDATE 10/10/18 AM 2: Wind speeds have increased to 150 mph and it is moving north at 14 mph.
Stay safe out there, Ranters, and help those who may need it in the upcoming days.

Thanks for the tunes, TF. It wouldn't be a Lewminati Severe Weather thread without them.

You've got it all wrong. It's honoring Michael SCARnecchia and paying homage to him by passing right over us. Kinda like Florence showed love for Florence, SC.

They are mandatory in Lewminati Severe Weather Threads. I just slipped up and didn't do it. You saved the day.

Looks like Columbia gonna be dead center. Could be game time. We are Vets at this by now. Should bode well for SC vs ATM.

The new Hurricane Alley.
Predictions have 70mph wind gusts where I'm at in SC. Ain't worried a bit.
ETA: Also looks like SC will be the only state where the entire state is affected by Michael.

CG. What part of the state u in ? I live on a point sticking out into deep water on lake Murray near ballentine. I catch hell during storms
My view is 12 miles across, so no land to slow the winds down.

On the SC/Georgia border between Aiken and Barnwell.
ETA: About 10 minutes tops from the Savannah River on the SC side. Near Augusta.

That puts you in the top right quad of the hurricane. That’s where most tornadoes form. Keep your eyes and ears open. Stay safe.

It looks like this thing is going to pass through your area as a tropical storm.
Be safe.
