Shut Red Hen down!

It's a politically loaded topic, just look how quickly the thread devolved in to partisan bickering. Message Boards have political sub-forums to confine such bickering to a specific singular place and prevent them from corrupting or stifling discussion in other areas, I imagine that TD has one for this reason as well.

There's also a Movie/TV board here, but there's a Star Wars thread on this page. There's a Travel board here, yet there are often travel related threads here. There's a Food & Drink board here, and there are always threads about food and drink here. This boards is kind of a catch-all, and political threads are nice as they don't really turn into the batshit right-wing circle jerk like most threads on the Political board do.

...or become name calling contests like this one, and that's the difference between political threads and movies or food threads. People don't polarize instantly in a thread about lasagna but they will in just about anything political, this thread went to shite by the fifth reply. It shouldn't be on this board.

New list idea for you; get people on the record on whether or not they believe in Q. Two lists, losing list gets shamed to death.

There's name calling in the Star Wars thread on this page. There's name calling in a lot of the food threads, especially when it comes to Chick Fil A. Sure, a lot of it is just good natured ribbing, but not all of it.
Besides, I assume we're mostly adults here. Name calling should have stopped bothering us in high school. I know it doesn't bother me.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Name calling doesn't bother me either but I want to see this board active and humming and relatively peaceable, it's my personal opinion that overly political topics hurt that environment. My opinion doesn't count for shite though.

No idea who Q is, and since there's a 1200 page thread on the PT, I'm not gonna go down that rabbit hole.

Short version:
Q was an anon on 4chan's /pol/ board claiming to have "Q" level security clearance. He started posting around October 17 IIRC and has since moved to his own board on 8chan. He made various cryptic posts hinting that he (or they) is a high level member of the President's administration.
He makes predictions or hints to upcoming events by raising issues for readers to research using the Socratic method. The general theme is that Q is party to an effort within the Admin to sweep up corrupt politicians, elites, etc ("the Cabal" or alternatively the Deep State) in an upcoming military operation, the Storm. The best aggregation of everything, and primers, can probably be found on reddit's great awakening subreddit.
There's a lot more to it than just that and it goes so far as cannibalism, child molestation rings, satanic ritual sacrifices, etc but those are the basics.
Put me down for thinking he's full of shite.

You try way too hard. But we knew that already. Stick to memes, broham!

Fair enough. It seems the political threads get some of the most action on here, but I realize a lot of that is just partisan bickering, name calling, and shouting over each other.
It's still more civil than 90% of the threads on the Political board, but that's really not saying much. I've sworn off that place.

Yea I agree that some political topics can do well here and foster decent discussion, IMO the better ones are the general ones on topics rather than something that's cheap partisan bait. "Gay Marriage" vs. "Stormy Daniels" kind of distinction.
