...and according to contemporary Greeks they didn't consider Phillip's kingdom Greek. They were backwater hillbillies. North Macedonia deserves to be Macedonia. Not the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Macedonia.

Compared to the powers to the south? Yes. Phillips people were from the hills and were far more likely to carry swords in town, be rowdy when drinking, etc. than the average Greek. But that could be regarded as a regional difference, no different than perhaps those that live in mansions in Connecticut viewing the west virginian coal miner who likes to hunt and fish as a savage from the mountainsl. Both are still americans just as the macedonians were "greeks".
Phillip himself ignored honorable acts, (such as telling one of the hill tribes that they could bury their dead, then attacked them and cut them down) but ignoring honors more common elsewhere does not change what one is necessarily
