Really cool book written by Slavomir Rawicz. He was a polish man captured by soviets on the eve of ww2. He and a few others escaped Siberia and walked all the way to India to escape. Very cool story and worth the read. They made a movie about it called "The Way Back" but never saw it so I have no idea how accurate it is. One interesting part of the story was when the group was crossing the Himalayas and saw two tall, dark, hairy figures twice the size of men. They were sort of nervous to to go near them so they went around. He points out that years later when the whole Bigfoot/Yeti thing came about, it made him wonder about those creatures they had seen that day. Thought that was kind of interesting. So for you history and military buffs, ever read this book?

Probably a good book. It's also probably a fraud (and don't take my word for it, ask the BBC LINK ). So I wouldn't treat it as anything other than fiction with some reality thrown in.

For a real good book about an amazing survival/endurance story that actually happened, check out `Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage'.

Heckuva book and all true.

P.S. For a good book that freely admits it's total fiction, try 'The Long Walk' written by Stephen King. It's a Hunger Games type story before the Hunger Games were cool.

It was good book, but he lost a lot of credibility with me when they ran across the Yeti. Other than that, if really was a true story, that was a hell of an escape especially across the desert.
