Damn, that was a good one bowl.

This is some pretty scary stuff. I eat venison 5 or 6 times per year but I think I can do without after reading this shite.

Heard on the radio last week of some more infected deer found down in S TX

From the map it seems that CWD is in creasing in S Texas. The deer population there must be big.

Same here in Kentucky. I took my dogs for a hike in a big nature park in Frankfort this week and encountered seven deer. They’re so tame. They weren’t at all afraid of me or my dogs.

Thanks for the heads up Ken. I eat a lot of venison, and wasn't even aware this was a thing. It's not being widely reported here.

I’m sure that’s because there are no reported cases of CWD in the Deep South and because no instances of crossover to people have happened anywhere yet.

Because of the sheer numbers, it seems likely that the disease will cross over to people at some point. It’s my guess that the human blood-brain barrier is keeping it in check for now. Because of the variability from person to person, however, it seems inevitable that a vulnerable human will eat deer meat that has CWD.

Me, too, although there is a test for CWD. I just think I’d rather be overly cautious. Kentucky doesn’t have any cases yet but that doesn’t mean it’s not here. Our Fish and Wildlife Department isn’t funded well and the incompetence of the knuckle walkers we can afford is legendary.

Figures it would be the new kids in the conference.

More like the non-hardcore CSA states.

We thin our herds here.

I know they thin'em in Texas too because I was just down there culling the helloutta their deer in December.

In Arkansas, it is focused around National Park controlled land. I don't think you're allowed to hunt out there.

We need to kill more deer, and have more forest fires to destroy the prions that are in the soil.

Notice on that map how many of these cases occur in Utah.

In my thread on skinwalker ranch I made mention of the cattle mutilation phenomena and how NDIS under Robert Bigelow was initially interested in the paranormal ranch because of the numerous reports of mutilated cattle coming from the area.

Well the conclusion they came to on the cattle mutilation stuff was that the activity was being conducted by an unknown group who were tracking prion disease in the cattle of the area.

Kinda odd, really. A lot of these ranchers were, and still are, losing cattle by the dozens to these people who sneak in under the cover of darkness, abduct cattle, operate on them and then literally just drop them back down on the ranch deader than a doornail.

No accountability, no compensation for destroying these ranchers' livelihood.

Anyways, the more you know...
