As some have probably seen, we had a terrible thing happen in our town Saturday night. A POS coward decided to murder a police officer a block off our town square, as he sat in his police cruiser, while people were out enjoying our annual Lights of the Ozarks Christmas light display a couple hundred feet away. The aforementioned POS was shot and killed by two other officers who heard the shots from inside the police station across the street.

Officer Stephen Carr was 27 years old. He was a part of the bicycle patrol that worked the bar district along Dickson Street. His murder was senseless, cowardly and shocking. Stuff like that just doesn't happen here, and shouldn't happen anywhere.

These are from around town last night, in support of our local PD. The stadium, businesses, and residents turned the town blue in honor of Officer Carr.

That's terrible. Sorry to hear this.

Side note: I visited that cross overlook in Fayetteville during my road trip to Arkansas in 2015 for the State game. Beautiful city y'all have over there.

Just a horrible thing that happened.

By all accounts the guy that did this had suffered from psychotic outbursts before. He was just a ticking time bomb. He had tried to impersonate a police officer before. He had threatened to set his mother on fire.

It is so wrong that someone like Officer Carr, who by all accounts was a great police officer, was killed by someone so fundamentally fricked up as London Phillips.

One of the worst tragedies to even happen in Fayetteville.

Heartbreaking deal for sure.

I was looking at my pics on my phone today and the last two pics are

1. My house with the blue lights.
2. A pic I took at the Square Friday night.

Totally random, unstoppable event. That a-hole parked a block from the Square, pointed the direction of all of those people out there at the light display. Had he not murdered the officer and been shot dead, he may have done even worse.

By his own mother's account this dipshit threatened to set her on fire. Who knows what this guy could have done?

That is terrible. Such a shame for that officer to lose his life. Prayers to his family and the community.

I can't explain it, but this has to be the saddest I've ever felt for my town, and also the proudest. Watching the funeral procession today and seeing all the people standing on the roadside united in grief, and showing respect moved me. The location and nature of this crime just seems so damned personal to all of us, and so wrong in every way.

Anybody who deliberately incites hatred toward law enforcement deserves a special place in hell.

I agree with all that. Deeply sad day yesterday. Watched the procession in person, and the funeral livestream. Seeing all those big manly cops come out of the arena doors weeping was rough.

Another day seeing police officers traveling in groups of three. People praying with random officers. Cops backed-in wherever they park. And telling police I support them.

frick every leftist piece of shite who has emboldened this type of action. I hate you all to your core.

You dumb motherfricker. This has nothing to do with politics. You sound just as crazy as the guy who shot our police officer.

On topic, this was terrible. Both of the officers that ended up gunning this guy down have just been on the force for a few years. I grew up with the older siblings of one of them. Tragic.

Sorry. Hadn’t heard about this. If the shooter had been a white police officer and the shootee black, it would be all over the news. That’s the world that the democrats and the NAACP have created for us.

No, frick You. Quit exacerbating the polarization of this country. Stop lumping people together.

This is something that should bring us together, and here you are itching to turn this into a pissing contest.

Checks out. Par for the course for certain folks from certain areas outside the walls of I-285.

par the course, somebody downvoted this

Understand. We don't rejoice in God sorting them out. But God will sort them out.

Downvote that.

the police officer was assassinated dude

it was not "in the line of duty" - none of what happened was in the line of duty

he was fricking assassinated

that's usually 100% political, and if it somehow wasn't political this time, then it was the exception that proves the rule

the chief of police's quote was "We had an officer executed tonight" or something similar

"our officer was executed" was the gist

got nothing to do with race, ethic origin or religion

got everything to do with politics
