Kinda scary
But I guess given how interconnected everything is, on a site like this where most folks identify location and interests readily, it's probably not that difficult for someone determined to find out who you are. If you're truly trying to be anonymous, social sites probably aren't the best place to be.

Congrats!!! Huge accomplishment..a lot of ppl do not realize how taxing, demanding and stressful nursing school really is. But at the same time, it is absolutely one of the most rewarding professions that exists and is worth every moment moment spent toiling over A&P, Pharm, Management, clinicals, NCLEX, etc.
And I am glad I could help! And I am glad to welcome you to the profession!!

I will say I'm not taking your advice on doing a year in med surg first though.. I did an externship this summer in the Neurological ICU and fell in love with it so I'm probably going there as a new grad... end goal is CRNA as well so I'll need the critical care experience
But I do remember you saying something about if you don't remotely feel like you could do it for free then it may not be for you... I totally agree with that. I look forward to clinical and thouroughly enjoyed working this summer... something about seeing a teenager with a gsw to the head and then being there when he finally opens his eyes and sees his family again that'll make you really appreciate the position that you are in.

Let me say congrats also, although I am not a nurse. I do have to work with a bunch of nurses in the things I do, more dependent on time of year though. Again though, congrats.

Thank you! Ha our class started off with 78 and there's now 49 of us about to graduate... haha they dropped like flies man

The hardest class I ever took was an Anatomy Physiology class that was designed for Nursing students at ULL. They purposely made it hard to weed out the Nursing students. I got stuck in there because it was the only A&P class open and I had to have it for Grad school.

It's funny because we definitely don't need to know A&P to the depth we are taught in those classes... physicians, yes... nurses, not so much

I got a C in that class, went into the Department Head's office and called him a SOB. He looked at me and said I know, but we did not want you to stay an extra semester. The good thing was the Department Head was my advisor and I had known him when I was working at SMS. He pulled strings to get me into Grad School without a GRE.

I was just lucky in a very unfortunate time. Katrina had just hit I did not have a home or job to go back to. The Dept Head found out I was looking to maybe get my Sports Admin Masters and said if you can commit I will get you in. I did, got my Master's and have not used it once

Best travel job I accepted was a 2 month stint at Queen's Hospital (ER/Trauma Dept) in Honolulu. They flew me first class roundtrip, all expenses paid condo on the beach in Ewa Beach (rent, electricity, landline phone, water, satellite, internet and weekly maid service all included), rental car with gas allotment and the pay was almost twice what I typically made in the states as an ER/Trauma nurse with (at that time) 11 years of experience. Basically the only thing they did not cover was my meals. The agency was Kahu Malama. I would absolutely, unequivocally recommend travelling!!
And one of my closest friends from high school (we actually went to USC together and graduated with our BSN's together) is now a CRNA and has been for about 12 years. She absolutely loves it. For me, I'd have to say that if I were to switch specialties, I would perform Midwifery.
