He had random decent games.

I liked him when he was with the Griz, but he's a scorer that doesn't consistently score and plays no defense.

He's a less effective Rudy gay.

But that was in a grizzlies system, that depends on physicality. Daye isn't physical, he's a spot up shooter who fits well in the spurs system

He wasn't there to be a physical player. He was there to spread the floor and make shots while everyone crowded the paint.

He rarely did that.

He's left wide open half the time, and the other half it doesn't matter because he's shooting over the top of everyone! His shot is nearly impossible to contest.
